The 5-foot-11, 175-pound White was one of the top cover cornerbacks in the state and also an electrifying punt returner for the 6-A state champions.
The junior made 44 tackles, 61/2 for losses. He had one interception and 12 pass breakups for a defense that allowed only 116 points and just 102.4 yards passing a game. He also returned 29 punts for 533 yards and three TDs, the longest 88 yards.
âHeâs the best high school corner cover that I have ever coached, bar none, period,â coach Bob Beatty said.
âRyan White is a better corner than Brandon Lloyd (coached by Beatty in Missouri, currently in the NFL) was at that stage of his career. We do so many things with him, man and zone, and it just doesnât matter. One bad thing is that his statistics are not that good because nobody wants to throw his way.â
White already holds offers from Illinois, Arkansas and Kentucky. Heâs also heard from Louisville, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
