It's even better when you were already guaranteed a free slice and you want a second one as well.

A little cool whip thrown on top wouldn't be refused either.
I mean seriously. If something doesnt change, its time to get out! (Belfry that is)
We need qualities non-district opponents to get ready for the playoffs. Last Friday was a waste. Would have got better competition in a split squad scrimmage.n Belfry's administration needs to start applying the pressure IMO.

should change the name to east ky bowl
bring in teams
ashland
perry central
bell county
johnson central
harlan county
p burg
pikeville
pike central
then bring in team from lex lou wv let them all play teams that r as good or better then the mountain teams, makes every body money, every team gets better plus get one great team every year to play one of the eky teams so hit could be on espn ,

The scheduling problem for the two marquee games revolves around 2 main issues, IMO.
1. It is hard to get teams to agree to a 2 year contract where they have to play on the road in both years. Most of the so-called "quality" teams can play a home and home with another school closer to them and come out better financially. However with the scheduling mandates, a 2 year contract is unavoidable.
2. Finding the perfect 2 teams to play Belfry and Pikeville and flip flop them is near impossible because the level of play at Belfry and Pikeville is no longer similar.
For what it is worth, I think it is pretty close to being a done deal that Montgomery Co and Somerset will be the two opponents for 2013-2014. That is a step up in competition if it indeed works out that way

Buc, if those are the next two teams that is definitely a step in the right direction. These last two years have been a farce.. I think the PCB committee and the KHSAA should have punished Franklin County for keeping us from seeing Timmons in person lol!!!

Here is my solution, which would require some orchestration but I think could be done.
First, for Belfry, you would have to find another team to partner with, for discussion purposes let's say Bell County. Then you find 2 quality opponents for those two schools to play and you set up a two year deal that involves the first two weeks of each season. Let's use Somerset and Danville for this discussion.
For Example
2013
Week 1 Danville @ Belfry (PCB) and Somerset @ Bell Co
Week 2 Belfry @ Somerset and Bell Co @ Danville
2014
Week 1 Somerset @ Belfry (PCB) and Danville @ Bell Co
Week 2 Belfry @ Danville and Bell Co @ Somerset
This way each of the 4 teams gets a home/home series, the PCB gets quality opponents and everybody wins, IMO.
You repeat this for Pikeville with 3 other quality teams.
And you play Belfry and Pikeville on the same night with two marquee matchups like it used to be.

One other thought on the above idea is that other than the PCB game, the other games wouldn't have to be week 1 and 2. If Bell and Danville could only work it out in week 5 for instance that would be fine as long as all the games could be worked into the respective schedules.

I like it.
I think the only thing you have to figure out logistically is finding the correct sponsors who will get the "bang for their bucK" in all four locations (in essence a sponsor who extends across EKY, not just within a specific region)
In this case I think you are safe with CTBI and WYMT certainly in the EKY part of the state, but it may limit you as you look to expand teams (WYMT could potentially become WKYT of course to encompass CKY).
Currently these are the CTBI branches in the state:
Lexington (numerous schools)
Versailles (Woodford County)
Winchester (GRC)
Mt. Sterling (Montgomery County)
Richmond/Berea (Mad. Central, Mad. Southern, Berea)
Danville (Boyle County, Danville)
Harrodsburg (Mercer County)
Campbellsville (Cville, Taylor Co)
Somerset (Somerset, Pulaski County, Southwestern)
Greensburg (Green County)
Columbia (Adair Co)
Lebanon (Marion Co)
Jamestown (Russell Co)
Mt. Vernon (Rockcastle Co)
Williamsburg (Whitley Co, W-burg)
Corbin (Corbin)
London (N Laurel, S Laurel)
Middlesboro/Pineville (Mboro, Bell Co, Pineville)
Hazard (Hazard, Perry Cen)
Whitesburg/Jenkins (Letcher Cen, Jenkins)
Floyd County (Pburg, Betsy Layne, S Floyd, Allen Central)
Hindman (Knott Central)
Paintsville (Johnson Central/Paintsville)
Flemingsburg (Fleming County)
Ashland/Russell (Ashland, Fairview, Boyd Co, Russell, Raceland)
Just off this list alone,
Boyle County, Danville, Belfry, Pikeville, Rockcastle County, Bell County, Whitley County, Corbin, Henry Clay, Tates Creek, Lafayette, LexCath, LCA, GRC, Madison Central, Hazard, Perry Central, Russell, Ashland, Johnson Central, Raceland, Somerset, Southwestern, Pulaski, Pburg...
Those are some good names you can mix and match to get it started
