Corbin 35 - South Laurel 14
#1
Corbin scored on the first play of scrimmage only to have it called back for an unnecessary block in the back 20 yards behind the play. But, they shook it off and led the entire game, and the outcome never seemed to be in doubt. I was impressed with the blitz package tonight by Corbin. They knocked Dethridge out early in the first half and never gave the Cardinal QB's a chance to find a receiver. Most drives for South would result in 2nd & 18 and 3rd & 20+. Unfortunately the Achilles heel for Corbin so far this season has been penalties, and although not as bad, tonight there were still too many penalties.

Corbin gave up more yardage via the penalty than South Laurel gained offensively against the Corbin starters. Before the drive late in the 4th qtr against the subs, I don't think SL even had 100 yds of net offense. Corbin did clean up the illegal motion penalties, but had an 80 yard TD called back and a couple of other huge gains due to penalties.

South Laurel's offense is awful. Play calling is terrible. All they throw is screens, fast screens and bubble screens, never down field. Probably the most predictable offense in the state. 2nd and 1, 3rd and 1, 4th and 1.......it dont matter. It's shotgun and a screen. 4th and 18 tonight on Corbin's 35 and South throws a screen for 8 yds. Running the ball must be the ultimate sin with this offense!

Congrats Corbin.

No surprise here, South is terrible.

Ive said it since day one, as long as the current coaching staff is there, they are going to be a doormat every year.
I, for one, hope they keep them around for 30 years

Congrats to Corbin!!! Not a big surprise a shame South can't get some coaches in there. With Larkey turning North around something needs to be done.

About what I expected. Corbin is much better than they are getting credit it for.
