Incredible back and forth game. Just incredible! What Friday nights are all about!

After Kuntz answered a Camel TD, he led the Pioneers right back down the field with some INCREDIBLE throws to take a 28-21 lead.

The Camels, led by QB Tyler Durham, answered on 4th down from the 2 yard line with 40 seconds left in the game. Durham punched it in to get to within 1! The Camels call timeout, in what appeared to be icing their own kicker. But when the Camels came back out, there was no kick to be made. Durham took the snap for the 2 point conversion and a Camel win!

Way too early to count your chickens, but there was no doubt watching the game throughout that this game was for the District title.

Outstanding effort by both teams. Kudos to coach Marksberry (sp) and his Pioneer squad. Congrats to coach Lickert and the Camels!

Was able to get in the truck to hear the last three outs by Homer Bailey and his perfect game!

Congratulations to the Camels. Hopefully they can win 6A NKY again this year.

Picked the camels to win, so glad they got the W.

Also got to the car to hear the 9th inning of the Reds!

Fantastic effort by both teams. Wanted SK of course but CC earned it. To get to watch these 2 QB's put on the show they did was an honor! About as different styles as you can get but equally effective. Love to see these 2 meet again in the regional finals. Congrats to both teams.

Due to this sounding like a great game, you get another week off from pure torture Hop. Confusednicker:

Good game by both teams.

Good game district is wide open.

Tyler Durham’s arm kept getting him into trouble on Friday night. His legs kept getting him out of it.

The Campbell County senior quarterback compensated for three costly interceptions by rushing for 222 yards and three touchdowns to rally the Camels past unbeaten Simon Kenton, 29-28.

“(Durham) took the game over,” Simon Kenton coach Jeff Marksberry said. “When he’s got the ball good things happen for them and we kept (allowing the ball) to get back in his hands. He's a heck of a player.”

Campbell County (3-3), ranked sixth in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches’ poll, fell behind by 14 points early. They still trailed 28-21 in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.

That’s when the Camels embarked on a seven-minute, 62-yard game-winning drive. That march concluded with a 3-yard Durham scoring run on fourth down-and-2 that left Campbell County trailing 28-27. Rather than opt for the game-tying extra point, Camels coach Stephen Lickert chose an even surer bet – hand the ball to Durham and let him plow ahead.

That’s exactly what Durham did, muscling his way through the Pioneers for a two-point conversion to push the Camels past their district rival.

“We ran that same play all the way down the field that last drive, so we said ‘Let's make them stop it,’” Durham said.

Simon Kenton (6-1) led 14-7 at the half despite picking up only one first down on offense. The Pioneers built that cushion by taking advantage of Durham’s early throwing miscues.

Simon Kenton junior Chase Wilson returned Durham’s first pick 70 yards for a touchdown. Jared Swanson brought back Durham’s next errant toss to the Camels’ 22-yard line. Simon Kenton nearly squandered that prime field position, but junior quarterback Brenan Kuntz came through on fourth-and-11 with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Grant Wassom to give the Pioneers a 14-0 lead with seven minutes to play in the half.

Kuntz finished with 245 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-33 passing, but every time he pushed the Pioneers ahead, the Camels clawed their way back. Campbell County tied the score four different times in the second half before finally taking its first lead on Durham’s game-winning two-point conversion.

“Our motto is play the next play. We don’t worry about what happened before because we can’t control that,” Lickert said. “I believe in our kids and when they believe in themselves we can be special. As long as we keep believing we are going to have a great year.”

I thought that SK dude predicted a 7-0 start? Bafoon!!!
#13
^ He did! Maybe not a Buffoon, but definitely not a prognosticator....

in all seriousness though, it could have been 7-0 with a 4th down defensive stop at the 3 or a stop of the 2-point conversion.

I really do not think SK was going to stop CC on the final drive. They ran the same play almost every time and they could not stop it. Was it CC having kids only play one side of the ball (I am not sure if SK 2 platoons as well) or were the CC kids in better shape because in the last drive they drove the SK defensive line back. Plus you have to give props to Josh Griffith in his 1st varsity start at right tackle. He did a fantastic job.

This is the best I have seen the CC defensive line play this year. I also think a big difference on defense was Austin Myers at LB. He also had his 1st varsity start for CC.

If people do not believe in what Lickert does by now they are crazy! He has been successful in wherever he has been, Dayton & Holmes, not easy places to succeed in, IMO.

Now lets hope they do not have a let down because they need to beat Dixie next week!

Josh Griffith a sophmore. Austin Meyers a sophmore, Starting Center Jordan Mason a sophmore, Starting Middle line backer Nick Sauerbeck sophmore most of them are juniors or sophomores. Watch out Camels are going to dance for while:1:
