A little over 48 hours away.

This election will truly effect the lives of every single American.

My earlier criticism of the Gallup numbers came when you were crowing over the polls of "registered voters," which are always biased toward Democrats because they normally do not turnout to vote as reliably as Republicans do. I tried to explain to you that the Gallup numbers would change when they switched to the more reliable likely voter samples.

The registered voter surveys are cheaper to conduct but about the only purpose they serve is free advertising for the polling firms and ammunition for Democratic campaigns. That is why the pollsters always switch to likely voter polls as the election draws closer because they all would like to be able to claim the kind of accuracy in predicting the election outcome that Rasmussen enjoyed in 2008.

Of course they would. But, nothing is so sacred that it cannot be lampooned and rejected out of hand by the dems, if one would dare to criticize Obama and his merry band of mindless zombies. Whether that be Standard & Poors, Moody's Investors, Egan-Jones, Benjamin Netanyahu, the British Parliament, military generals, the AMA, the sage words of advice from our founding fathers, the Holy Scriptures or any republican that ever breathed. And so it goes, now of course, Rasmussen is on the trash heap with all the rest of the nay sayers.

If Obama loses, he and his supporters will point to the polls that predicted that he would win as proof that Republicans cheated. That is what they did with the exit polling data in 2004 when Kerry thought that he had won some big states until the votes were actually counted. Obama will be an even bigger sore loser than Kerry or Gore were.

Without question, he won't go down without making a mockery of the peaceful transfer of power that has graced American politics for 236 years. Gore and the dems came close to upending the apple cart in the 2000 when every lawyer in Illinois decended on Florida. That is why I think every pundit proclaming the razor thin edge in the polls is counterproductive. Polling is nothing more than educated guessing, by-the-way. And this notion of acid sure vision of voters intentions, gives the dems an inroad to further public distrust the opposition party. We need the press, but they can be pretty goofy too.

Hoot Gibson Wrote:Because I was discussing national polls and I listed to the two most respected polls that have stood the test of time. There are other firms that operate on a more limited basis in states or regions that also have good track records but do not have a national presence. Susquehannah has called several national and statewide races in Pennsylvania on the nose since 2008, and Romney is probably reacting to his internal polls as well.
Here's your post about the national elections that Susquehanna had right. I don't see the link to the polls you say they had right. I really would like to see a link to the polls that they predicted right in 2010. I'm really trying to get a feel of the quality "such as " polls, but you keep sidestepping.

Polls are a valuable tool when done right for customers who understand basic statistics and sampling theory. The problem comes when junk polls are used by candidates and their media allies to try to sway public opinion. Until the last few weeks of campaigns, I would classify most polls as junk science targeted at the dumb masses.

It would help if you read the posts in the thread, RV. Read, or re-read post #10. It includes two examples from 2010 in addition to the Obama poll results from 2008.

This is the latest Susquehanna poll. All tied at 47-47. With Romney making a personal appearance in Pennsylvania and spending $10 million in campaign ads, he has a very good shot at winning the state's 20 electoral votes. Also, coverage of FEMA's problems with the post-Sandy clean-up by the TV stations covering eastern Pennsylvania should negate Obama's photo-op-athon with Chris Christie.

Quote:Trib poll shows presidential race in Pennsylvania remains too close to call

President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney entered the final days of the presidential race tied in a state that the campaigns only recently began contesting, a Tribune-Review poll shows.

The poll showed the race for Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes locked up at 47 percent in its final week. Romney was scheduled to campaign in the Philadelphia area on Sunday, and former President Bill Clinton planned to stump for Obama on Monday. The campaigns have begun to saturate the airwaves with millions of dollars in presidential advertising.

“They’re both in here because of exactly what you’re seeing” in this poll, said Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling & Research, which surveyed 800 likely voters Oct. 29-31. Most of the interviews occurred after Hurricane Sandy inundated Eastern and Central Pennsylvania. The poll’s error margin is 3.46 percentage points.

Nearly 60 percent of people say the country is on the wrong track, and economic concerns continue to dominate. Almost half of likely voters say economic issues are the primary driver of their choice for president.

Brilliant post, vector. One of your best! You are at your best when your better judgment trumps your desire to post more nonsense.

Pa. Poll: Race Now Tied 47 to 47
Sunday, 04 Nov 2012 07:23 AM

The battleground state of Pennsylvania is now a dead heat for President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney, according to a new Tribune-Review poll.
Both candidates earned 47 percent support in the final days before Keystone State voters head to the polls to decide their 20 electoral votes.

“They’re both in here because of exactly what you’re seeing” in this poll, observed Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling & Research, which conducted the poll of 800 likely voters between Oct. 29-31 after Hurricane Sandy ravaged parts of the state, according to the newspaper.

This is truly amazing. Finally folks are begining to see through Obama's treachery.
