Good game for about quarter and half.
Trevor Jones from Estill was 15/30 passing, 206 yards, 2 TD's. 11 rush attempts for 98 yards.
Russell won toss but defered to second half. Estill scored first on a 27 yard pass from Trevor Jones to Taylor Tate.
What hurt Estill was they had Russell (twice) in 4 down territory and let Russell get first downs.
Congrats Red Devils and good luck next week at Bourbon County

After a very nice first drive by Estill, Russell dominated this one. I was in attendance. Conley is excellent for a FROSH and is going to be special.

I was off of work today and came to see my alma mater play. As for the game, everything that Goin' Deep said was on point. I also agree with PaytoPlay, Nick Conley is excellent. I had heard a lot about him, but I was able to see him tonight and he's a special athlete, that's for sure. I was impressed with the youthful Devils as a whole.
Estill County came out hot to start the game and drove right down the field for the opening TD of the game. After that, it was mostly Russell the rest of the way. Nick Conley and Bronson Korzep each were excellent tonight and Jacob McKee showed off impressive touch on his passes when he threw the ball. Like Goin' Deep said, Russell converted two crucial 4th downs in the second quarter from about 4 or 5 yards out (I believe they were 3-3 on fourth down conversions in the game, all three conversions later resulted in touchdowns) which really made the difference. Russell also recovered a pooch kick that was dropped by Estill County in the second quarter that seemed to change the momentum and led to the first of the three fourth down conversions. If the Red Devils had not converted those two fourth downs in the second quarter and if they had not recovered that pooch kick, it could have been a very different ball game.
I was really impressed by Trevor Jones from Estill County. He was a one-man show tonight and did it all for the Engineers, whether it was returning kicks and punts or making good decisions from the quarterback position. He's a good one. That scramble that he had where he somehow eluded the pass rushers and ran from the left hash all the way to the right pylon should have been called a touchdown. It didn't matter anyway, because they scored on the next play from scrimmage, but he should have been rewarded for his great effort on that particular play. I thought Estill did a good job of mixing things up as far as their play calling was concerned, but Russell just wore the Engineers down physically in the second half.
Good job to Estill this season, best of luck to them in the future. Good people as well. Hope that the Red Devils can pull off the major upset next week in Paris.
