Is the new athletic director trying to save face? The community is outraged how he has handled the soccer situation. First he doesn't support the soccer coach in a private meeting and the coach eventually resigns. Now he states he supported the coach via an article in the local paper. The community has taken notice of the decisions he is making. Maybe he will hire another former player from Shelby Valley as coach. :please:

Why don't you fill us in on the details?

Apparently, Perry Central was playing extremely dirty (don't shoot the messenger, just relaying what I heard). Coach asked refs to get control of the game, they refused to. Forearm shivers allegedly being thrown to Pikeville players faces and such, extremely obvious as I'm told. So the Pikeville coach pulled players due to safety concerns. I don't know what the original posters concerns are regarding the AD and coach, I'm not up to speed on that backstory. But KHSAA is allegedly investigating this game as well as the reason for Belfry forfeiting a game against Perry Central for allegedly the same reasons. All that being said, it wouldn't shock me if that was all true, and the person who filled me in on it has no reason at all to exaggerate since they were there but don't have a kid playing.

Are you saying that Phil Heffington has resigned as boys soccer coach at Pikeville?

He did, however, he had a change of heart and went back. School welcomed him back and did not officially accept his resignation. He will serve a two game suspension per KHSAA regs for pulling his team from a game, and then return to coaching the team.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad he was able to return to the program. He is a good coach. I've always had good respect for him.
