Young Talent for LC
#1
I know Lawrence County has a young football team. What does everyone expect for the upcoming season? Who are the young players everyone should look out for in the upcoming years? Thoughts please.

Year after next,,,watch out!!

We have to be in better shape. How many games have we lost in the last 4 years in the 2nd half.Games where we played even then only to get blown out.Of course anyone who has ever watched the greatest game in the world, has heard the 2nd half is for the coaches and their adjustments. We got to quit making excuses and go back to what I would call BILLY BALL.That is what Coach Goldsmith brought to us when he came here. The coach he has had over the defense for the last few years is as sorry as we ever had here and I have read posts last year to send him to the middle school.Lord dont do that, send him back to where he came from.Of course his stuck up in the air attitude towards those who are not in his inner circle, makes this a easy post to write.I played on the very 1st LC team and have watched closely every team since 78.Lets get back to Billy Ball.Maybe with a new offensive scheme , Billy can do what he does best,,coach the Defense. The last 4 years have been very hard to watch.I wish no players could ever read any of these posts. We have had and still have good young men so coaching is more of a concern to me than lack of talent. Not getting the talent out of these young men also falls back on coaching.

The boys coming into their Sophomore year are a very talented group. Boone Goldsmith will be a very good quarterback if he can stay healthy. Ben Preston will be a great asset on the line as he was this past year. Shane Pack, Chris Kazee, Lucas Frasher, just to name a few. Behind them we have the incoming Freshman that will make a huge impact on the years to come.Chandler Shepherd if he sticks with football will be a threat to Boone and the starting quarterback position, and his line, starting with Brody Preston at the center position. He has a great shotgun snap, will be very helpful to whatever quarterback they have. There just is a lot of talent coming up. The future Should be bright in Lawrence Co.

No way Your a woman. You know the game too well.Chandler Sheppard not staying with the sport where I think he is best at anyway would be a travesty but I hope the best for him whatever he does.I think the world of his mommy.Ben Preston might be our next all-state lineman and other Preston kid, who plays center:redboxer: ,I promise will be the biggest surprise.

LCHS should be just fine and dandy next year. Key word being SHOULD. They have a new offensive coordinator on the staff and that should allow Billy to concentrate on what he knows best which is defense. I am sure LCHS will be just fine, just need a little tweaks here and there. GO DAWGS!!!!
P.S. The middle school teams are LOADED!!

The talent is there. It just needs to be unleashed at what they do best. I really think Lawrence Co needs to spread the field with the type of players we have, and still be able to run the ball like days of old. We have to get better on the defensive side of the ball. We have to learn to stop the Run.

Here goes the old rumor mill, but I thought Shepherd was leaving (I was told maybe Greenup or Russell) or at least just sticking with baseball if things go their way. Oh well, you know how that goes...As far as billy ball, well, I happen to know first hand that things will change some. The younger Preston boy will be stepping into a new position and the other Preston may see some center? Yes, I do agree with you old school that you have to be in the "group" to be in contact with the previous def. coach. I have worked with them and know how that is.

The sad thing about this is that its true. If you arent in the "group" around here you cant get anything done. Sad but true

The rumor mill in Lawrence Co. just never stops does it? Shepherd isn't transferring to another school although a couple of coaches have talked to him trying to get him to. It wouldn't surprise me if he stuck to just baseball, but I just don't see it. It would be a shame if he did, he could get a scholarship on either sport and he's a pretty good basketball player too.

Dawgmom I think the bulldog black brings out the color in your eyes.

well lets stop the rumor right here-Shepherd is not leaving Lawrence County and even though baseball is his "thing", football is in his heart as well so we'll still be seeing him on the gridiron a well

Football is where Chandler can showcase all his talent best.I sure hope he dont become a baseball only player.Best wishes for him in anything he does.
