#1
Good game. Way to go Pirates!!
#2
Will Powell hosts Corbin or will they have to make the trip to Corbin?

Corbin will host Powell.
#4
I’m pretty sure we will be making the trip to Corbin.
#5
Congrats to Powell. Traveling to Corbin.
#6
Congrats Powell
#7
Casey tried saying Powell was a one man team. If that were true, it’s pretty sad that one man beat their whole team. #Powellrollson
#8
Surprised by this score. Congratulations powell

They deleted that post on their facebook page shortly after. Great team win by the Pirates! Hard fought game by both sides and if Casey’s starting QB had played this game would have been that much closer. Hats off to the Rebels on a great year. However, Powell has to do the same thing defensively next week against the Redhounds to make it a ballgame

Great game Powell county.
#11
I said in the prediction thread whichever defense rose to the occasion would win this one. When you hold a solid squad like Casey Co. To only 6 points. You done just that. Congrats to Powell

That was a Casey county football page, on social media... for our fans. No one was trying to "say" anything. They did not go to a Powell Facebook page and post anything. The fans that posted on the Casey page were classless. I deleted the post myself. There's no call for this. This was a tough hard fought game.
#13
Sorry bigdog that wasn't supposed to quote you.

Here's the deal... don't gloat in social media to another fanbase. Because what comes around can go around if you know what I mean. Corbin is coming to, practice hard and try to give them a good game. I will not gloat no matter what happens as long as we all stay civil in the facebooks, the instagrams etc.. Football is definitely not a one player sport. Powell had a good line and better than advertised QB. Good team. This was a very even matchup and polar opposite of last year's offensive explosion affair

Going to be a tall task for Powell next week against the Redhounds. Not saying it can't happen but Corbin took Casey to the woodshed in their regular season meeting beating them 41-0 @ Casey and it looks like Powell had their hands full with Casey tonight. And it doesn't help that the game is @ Corbin.
But anything can happen. That's why games are played. Good luck to both teams.

They did for sure, in the 2nd half. And that was Casey WITH their starting Quarterback who has broken many school records, and has been one of the top passers in 3A football the past 2 years. Corbin is a tall task for even a great 3A team. For rising programs, such as Casey and Powell...simply a deal where neither, IMO, are "ready". Maybe in a year, maybe in two. Maybe Powell thinks they can win now. But us without our leader on the field, and managing to only lose by 1 score...like I say, tough tough task ahead for Powell.

Posting that was classless to begin with. All I’m saying is we proved that wrong. It was a hard fought game.

Sir, that was posted, in private, on a private page. Powell folks would have had to have done a search, went to the Casey page and looked it up. We all say some classless things, in the privacy of our homes, practicing on our home fields I'm sure there are MANY non classy things said. But in order to find them, you'd have to specifically go to that place to dig it up. No matter what, your guys won. But I will say, no one is going to come in my house and tell me, or anyone in my family, what to "not say". Great game, Powell moves on. I discussed this with your principal, cameraman, and coach's, you guys have a very good ball team and for 2 years it has been barn burners right down to the wire. There's no reason, for anyone in my opinion to rub anyone's nose in anything. You guys have a football page too, and don't want fans coming on your own page and creating all kinds of fuss and drama. Our page is simply for posting old records, posting upcoming season stats/records, a little bit of "hype" stuff, and some pics. That's it. Good luck next Friday.

I was not trying to defend our fans for going onto your private page. That is classless, I agree but had it not been posted to begin with none of our fans would have done such. I’m sure if you get on the Powell county football page they in no way put Casey down. I personally didn’t look it up just seen a screenshot of it. I also was not trying to “rub anyone’s nose in anything”, just stated that what was stated on Casey’s football page was obviously not true. Take it how you want. Thank you for the good luck and I wish Casey luck next season. They are a very good team and great sportsmanship.

I heard a Casey player got tossed at the end of the game last night because he said something to the referee in response to the ref saying he was a piece of 5@$& and more. I've never heard of an official saying stuff to players like that, and if it's true, the guy has no place on a field officiating games. I hope that the KHSAA will at least investigate it to know what happened or was said.

You guys are good and definitely have a good overall team. Generally our little "vs" memes are not offensive, that one was just worded badly. I honestly didn't know anyone could see our page except those that are invited but I was wrong. I was told some of our players will play together in college next year so that's pretty cool. They can talk about the past 4 years playing each other. Both teams have kids that are big time competitors.

I agree, that is pretty awesome. That was a good game last night, they both have a lot of talent. I’m sure with some of them together, they will do big things.

Yes sir. Any idea where Skidmore wants to play. I was told he wants to walk-on to Kentucky. I figure he can play anywhere in state like Cumberlands, Campbellsville, etc.. As of now I think our top running back is thinking Campbellsville. Our center is definitely going to Campbellsville. My undersized right tackle is going to Campbellsville but will not play football. He's wanting to try and wrestle for them. It looked like most of your offensive and D line can play next level football.

Another player told me he wants to walk-on to Kentucky. I haven’t talked to him personally about where he is going. We usually have players go to Campbellsville and Cumberland. I know one of our juniors has been talking about going to UPike after next year.

You have to give Powell County credit. They have knocked Casey County out of the playoffs two years in a roll. This year I don't think it can be said Casey County was looking ahead. Congrats to Casey County on another good year. Congrats to Powell County on the year.

Corbin has home field the rest of the way

No, we were 100% focused on trying to beat Powell. The only thing that would be the "unsure", is being a passing offense and losing your 4000 yard passer. Even Corbin would struggle in their evenly matched games if Estep went down, etc.. etc.. But as always you play with what you've got. 2 teams fought hard at the level of play they are at, and Powell won it. Casey was totally focused on Powell, that's for sure without a doubt.

One player can def make a difference. More so in HS than any other level. Not only do you lose a good passer and athlete, you lose the grove they’ve established all year long. Good luck to you guys next year. It’s been fun watching you guys progress through the years. An amazing job and turn around for you guys, enough can’t be said about that.

Thanks Hound05. Really it has been a fun run, and even being in games with your talented Redhounds, up until the half, or 3rd quarters, etc.., has been something we are proud of. Corbin is a special team, and a long historical program. Good luck in 4A, and please please do not call us for an out of district game. Lol! (Joking). I know you guys will take on challenges from tough teams and only get better and better. I feel a championship is somewhere close around the corner for Corbin. We have one more really solid class, and then a current sophomore class who has lost a bunch of kids due to various reasons, then a freshman class that would've been rock solid, had not all the lineman decided to quit and play video games. We will then have some talented freshman come in, followed by a very solid 7th and 8th grade team. I think our best years may be in our current, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. Then it will jump down to little league where we have a couple of truly budding phenoms in the 1st and 2nd grade classes. I think we have one, very likely, really down year, in 2 years, and then start building up a bit again. Next years class is the last of the "Somerset league kids" who competed all the way through the Somerset youth league (which made us tougher, but in the end hurt our middle school numbers). Anyways, good luck to you guys. Powell will come in and they are tough minded and will, "believe", but there is just too much over there in Redhound land, IMO. I sure would have liked to have saw our quarterback play in his last game. That will haunt me for years. Powell has definitely, and rightfully so, played up that their kids have been winners since 3rd grade. Our kids played from kindergarten, and had been winners most of their life as well. Just had the captain of the ship down...I still think kids that compete and don't just mail it in, those kids will be winners in life as well. Football=no quit mentality. We all have a lot of future quality men we are putting out there in the real world.
