Aaron Harang

This is guy, IMO, is the MOST UNDERRATED pitcher in all of baseball. So far this season, he is tied for 3rd in the National League in Wins (10), 13th in ERA (3.45), 1st in Innings Pitched (151.1), and 1st in Strikeouts (138). Last season, he was tied for 1st in Wins (16), he was 9th in ERA (3.76) out of 23 pitchers who threw at least 200 innings, 3rd in Innings Pitched (234.1), and 1st in Strikeouts (216.) This guy didn't get 1 Cy Young vote last season, and was left off the All-Star roster this season. Why is he not getting any respect across the country? Obviously, Reds fans know what he capable of doing, but no one else seems to notice the excellent numbers he's been putting up the last few season. Is it because he is playing on a team that is struggling or what? What are your thoughts?

I think that alot of the time, if the team is doing bad the analysts tend to focus on the tema doing pitiful instend of a diamond in the rough like Harang. It is a shame because Harang is having a great season in amongst a horrible season for the Reds.

I totally agree...If Harang was a Red Sox, Yankee, Dodger or Brave he would have ESPN drooling over him...It's a shame that his team is pitiful.

Hell if he was a damn Yankee, Peter Gammons and the gang would be saying he may be the best ever.

HaHa. I like this one. According to Peter Gammons, the only teams in the entire MLB are the Yankees and Red Sox. I know the guy is a Hall of Fame writer, and knows more about the game than I will ever know, but there is more going on outside of the Bronx and Boston. These baseball writers and analysts need to look past Barry Bonds, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Bud Selig, and the entire New York Yankees team. Aaron Harang is for real, and whether Major League Baseball wants to accept the fact that someone not wearing a Yankees uniform is good, he won't be leaving the Queen City anytime soon. I can sure deal with that. But seriously, this guy deserves more recognition than he gets.

Very true staement. I think that last year when Arroyo and Harang was going about evenly Arroyo got most of the publicity IMO because of his stent witht the Red Sox. To quote Metallica ,"Its so sad but true".

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Harang didn't get a single vote last year for Cy Young, which means that not even one voter thought he merited 3rd place in the pecking order. I guess it's been so long since the Reds had a dominant ace, that the rest of the country just assumes that all Reds starters suck.

I so agree Strikeout King! His last performance after his grandfather passing away was unreal! If the Reds didn't have Harang or lost him to injury, damn, just a sad situation to imagine already worse than it is!

If we lost Harang the anchor of our rotation would would fall out of whack for a season or two. He is the dominant pitcher that allows the Reds the little bit of respect that they get.
