Couch was released today by the Jags and could end his football career. If so, Tim, will be the first to say that it has been great watching you play and rebuilding KY football when it needed you most!

wow, good things dont last forever

Why was he released? Any particular reason? I was hoping to get to see him play again.
08-18-2007, 11:51 PM
That really sucks maybe Atlanta could pick him up?

I knew he wouldnt get a chance. It seems like hes been black balled by the NFL. Ryan Leaf got more chances than Tim has.

Just remember this all you young aspiring NFL players out there, take Tim Couch's word for it. If the Cleveland Browns come calling....DONT ANSWER THE PHONE! LOL! I'd say Tim is probably done as bad as it kills me to say it. Yes, Couch has got the money and the pretty wife and all that but I'm sure he'd give it all up in a heartbeat (Except the wife and I dont blame him a bit!) to go back in time and somehow get drafted by another team, any team! IMO He would've faired alot better if he'd have went elsewhere.

As much as I enjoyed Couch in high school and college, I must say that he just doesn't appear to have what is needed in the NFL to be a QB. Couch never looked that great while in Cleveland. I think it is time for him to move on and get to real life! He gave it his best and that is all he can do!

This is why Couch will never get back into the NFL, all teams think about is how bad he did at Cleveland, and as soon as they see him slip up a little bit they think he's done again, I'd give him a shot on my team!

Sucks that he got released, hopefully he gets another chance elsewhere.

This really sucks, and yet another reason why I am beginning to hate the NFL. They give up on guys too easily. It was not his fault that he fared the way he did in Cleveland. He was a great player that got blackballed and I hope he someday gets a chance to stick it in all the teams faces that gave up on him. More so with Cleveland because they are the ones that destroyed his career. Maybe he should go play AFL or something, or try to get into coaching somewhere. Wish ya all the best in the world Tim, hope to see ya get another chance.

If Im not mistaken he wanted to go to Cleveland. (carefull what you wish for)
When he got there he had no running game, no offensive line and and a multitude of fans screaming for the back up. It was the worst possible place and situation for Tim. I believe in the right situation with the right system, Tim could've been a good (not great) NFL QB. I guess we will never know.

Hate to say I told you so. Would love to see Tim play for the Horsemen however.

Horrible turn of fate he has had when it comes to football. I hope to one day see him get the chance he deserves to be a QB again in the NFL, but if not it was great to watch him while it lasted.
08-20-2007, 09:58 AM
He was never given a chance that is BS.
08-20-2007, 10:18 AM
I read somewhere that Tim had missed 2 or 3 practices because of back problems. I don't blame the Jaguars for getting rid of him. He is as injury plagued as Ki-Janna Carter was for the Bengals.

He was signed to the league minimum and given the chance this season after being out of football for 3 years. He was financially a better deal than their current 3rd string option. Surprising to me. Wonder what the Jags saw in him in the first place? It had to have been the game action and his inability to keep up with the speed of the game - JMO - because that's something that can't been simulated in drills.

So since he signed a contract for so much money, does that mean the Jags still have to pay him that even though he got cut from the team?

I'm guessing, but I bet he had to make the roster this year to earn the check.

Pro football teams give parking-lot attendants longer looks than Jacksonville gave Couch...There's only one message to draw when a player gets released days before there is an NFL deadline to whack the roster: Can't throw. Can't play.

I do feel as if he has been given chances in the NFL. He has failed to take advantage of some of them. The NFL is not a forgiving league. It is the man of the hour and that is what money does to the game. Timâs biggest mistake was when he picked UK as a college. He had so many opportunities that would have made him a better NFL QB. He was looked at by so many colleges while in high school. You would see orange Tennessee limos in the parking lot while in high school. Please donât take me wrong. He was one of the best high school football players that I have ever since. It was always a party when Belfry came to town. UK failed to develop the QB skills needed at the pro level. Please remember this is only my opinion and you know what they say about them! LOL.

Hes actually a very talented QB, it's just very hard to prove what you can do when your playing for the cleveland browns..

Like I said, I don't feel as if this was his first bad place to be. UK did nothing for his career to develop him into the QB he needed to be at the next level. He is a very talented QB, just not at the NFL level. Didn't he go to Green Bay and now Jacksonville? He would stay with a team if there wasn't better talent out there.

Maybe Atlanta could give him a chance, they are lacking in the QB department right now with Vick out and Shockley got injured the other night. Just an idea though. He deserves a chance to prove himself for longer than what the Jaguars gave him. UK was not Couch's downfall, it was the sorry Cleveland Browns, and the same thing will happen to Quinn. If I was a star QB getting ready to be drafted, I would demand that Cleveland not pick me, I would advise any QB to not go there. All they do is destroy quarterbacks. Also, if Im not mistaken, Curry was still coach at UK when Couch started there, and Im also pretty certain that it was Curry that didnt want to give him a chance either, it wasnt until Mumme came in that Couch got his chance, and proved he was worth it.

This is no good...But I suggest him trying out for some teams at linebacker!! He is a beast!!
