Flooding in SEKY
#1
I know Pike, Leslie, and Perry Counties have all been hit pretty hard. Johnson County being hit and so many others. Just wanted to extend prayers and well wishes from Ram Country. If anyone down that way needs anything please PM me and we will come up with a plan!!!

We are fine. Gravel pit road is covered but that’s about it. The “backroad” is fine. I figure the tunnels will be closed at some point today. But it’s cold, windy, and snowing here right now.

Just awful. I hate it for everyone that got hit hard. I saw pics of Pikeville and they are going to have a lot to deal with. Prayers for all.

A whole lot of Harlan County is just devastated. The rain has ended, but it's pouring snow.
I know of a few good ole boys with their pickups and john boats that rescued some folks yesterday afternoon and evening. They also delivered food and medicine to some folks that were farther up the holler. Funny thing about mountain folks; when someone is in need, most often they are helped by local people.

My home wasn't effected by the water, and I am grateful for that. But it is so heartbreaking to see some of the stories. There are 4 families with kids that lost everything. We've got all of them plenty of clothes and they are in a shelter with heat and food. This clean up is going to be another matter. For most of these displaced people, the bad news is just beginning.

I know GB! We are perfectly fine in Raceland and Worthington for the most part, but there are alot in Carter, Elliott, and Greenup County that are being affected from the rise of Sandy. I’m sure Lawrence is affected as well. Worst flash flooding I’ve seen in my lifetime probably. Again, echoing what Granny said. We all may talk our talk and give each other crap, but for what it’s worth, if Beagle1 messaged me and said he was stranded…I’d go help him. The offer stands to anyone that needs anything. Please let me know.

My worry for a lot of our surrounding county is hillsides coming down. A lot of driveways and roads are washing out.

So sad
Prayers for all I saw the fields at Pikeville and other places destroyed. Prayers during this time is all we can do.

Add Floyd County to the list. I live in a place called Mare Creek and it’s been above the mouth of our holler for 2 days and don’t look like it’ll let off enough for us to get out again tomorrow
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Appreciate that Armchair, and you are 100% correct. We all sling crap at one another, but when someone needs a hand, it’s our nature to give help! As it should be!!!!
If Greenup Co. can help please let us know. I’m sure things are already being put together to send that way!!!
And for what it’s worth, I’d help Armchair with anything besides pulling for the rams. Lol
Hell I’d even help RAD, if it was something like what south eastern Ky is facing

How is it today? I saw where the water was up pretty bad around Dressen. What parts are flooding? Is it just around the city or is The Tri Cities and the eastern part pretty bad too? I know it can get pretty bad heading up cloverlick and up the river.

All three forks of the Cumberland River was above flood stage. And for some reason, back water was ponding in places that had never been prone to flooding. Our Judge Executive, Dan Mosley, was out working boots on the ground until 1 am morning before last. He got home and he and his wife were talking in the kitchen. All of a sudden, they had a tree with them. THAT'S part of the ongoing problems. The ground is saturated and not stable. We had around 14 mud slides in the past 4 days; some worse than others.

The river is still up but has crested in all areas. It won't take long to recede.

Ohio river and Sandy aren’t supposed to crest until Thursday. Expecting the river to rise another 5-10 feet by then. Expected to be the highest crest in history. Mud slides are my concern for the Carter and Elliott county areas. Now they are calling for more snow mid-week. Mother Nature waited until just before spring time to go off her meds I guess. Hopefully this is the last of it.
