Eminence at Harlan County is a strange matchup. Middlesboro, Hazard, or Williamsburg would make a lot more sense if HC is going to play a 1A team.

They don't want to lose to a local 1A again.  Trying to branch out.

I look for Harlan County to gradually get better with more stability in their program going forward.

Heard that after consolidation and to be honest, program has went backwards.  Understanding the economy of Harlan Co has changed since then and I think everyone agrees Harlan Co winning a state championship would be lightning in a bottle, but they should be having years of playing for a regional title at least with a few classes.

HCHS won three 5A regional championships in the first 10 years. I've not seen many programs start that strong that fast after 15 years of struggles before consolidation. The last 5-7 years have been a struggle.
