You Are NFL Commissioner For One Day...

...and you can enact a single rule that can't be disputed or altered for the next five seasons.

What rule are making and why?

A two-parter, but oh well. I’m going back to the 16 game schedule, which of course made perfect sense so they got rid of it, and I’m going back to six teams in the playoffs from each conference, with byes to the top two.

On the field, I would try to work out something to make field goals less meaningful, too much is decided by who has the best kicker. Maybe only two points for kicks inside the 50, three points for longer. Just something to make going for tds more attractive.

I'm not a big fan of how they line up for the kickoffs.  I'd go back to the old way of lining up for kickoffs.

Or just do away with kickoffs, to many touch backs with balls flying over the end zone.

If I was NFL commissioner for one day, I would ban Rodger Goodell from EVER having anything to do with NFL football again.

Under his "leadership," the league clearly has makes efforts to influence game results. He needs to disappear.

Three words-- NCAA overtime rules.

Not spending three plus hours invested in a game between two elite QBs only to see one of them not get a chance to touch the ball in OT. If I wanted to know who'd win based on a coin toss, I'd write each team's name on a quarter and throw it up in my living room.

I agree with this 110%

Makes me think of Josh Allen and the Bills Vs Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs a few years back. Everyone knew whoever won the coin toss in ot was likely winning the game.

College rules would be perfect in these situations.

And professional games shouldn't end in ties absent something unusual (e.g. severe weather or technical event that occurs late in the game with the score already tied or reasonably close).

I have to respectfully disagree with you two on the college overtime rules,  they are unwatchable IMO.
That being said, after the Mahomes and Allen game a few years ago, the NFL  changed the overtime rules in the playoffs guaranting (sp?) at least one possession for each team in OT. This spring, the NFL  owners agreed to change the OT rule for the regular season so that both teams can get at least one possession in OT.

That's good that they're making this rule change.

As long as, both teams get to touch the ball in OT, regardless if the team that wins the coin toss marches down and scores. The other team should have one chance to answer.

If that's the case then I'm good with it  Wink

Just make all kickoffs have to be onside kicks.

Im not opposed to this, but start at the 50 yard line.
