Beginning next season, the SEC has voted to go to nine conference games, plus one non-conference game must be against a Power 4 opponent, which means the Louisville game should remain on the Kentucky schedule. Not great news for UK, that eliminates one ‘guaranteed’ win off the schedule every year. But as a fan I love it. I mean, does anybody get excited about Kentucky vs. Kent St.? Alabama vs. Louisiana-Monroe? Tennessee vs. Tennessee Tech?
UK will have three permanent opponents that they will play every season. The other 12 conference teams will be rotated, six one year, the other six the next. Then that cycle will repeat with the host flipping. That means every school in the SEC will play in Lexington at least once every four years. The big question is who will be UK’s permanent opponents. Most everyone seems to agree that Tennessee is a lock. But there is a lot of differing opinions on the other two. I really hope Vandy is one, both for competitive reasons and because I selfishly love going to Nashville every other year for that game. Georgia, South Carolina and Mississippi St. seem to be the other leading contenders, with Florida and Missouri also being mentioned as possibilities.

I don't like it. UK didn't need another SEC game (likely loss) to schedule better teams than Kent State. That's on UK admin. Going to be a lot of empty seats late in the year in down years, like this year. Should change Louisville game to the opener, before UK fans bail late in 4-8 years. Also going to be much harder to be bowl eligible. And I'm afraid the end result will cause recruiting to take a hit, making this down cycle very hard to come out of. Not optimistic at all. I'll say about Stoops what I said about Cal, if this year is bad it's time to get a new coach.

This is great, believe it'll motivate us and we'll storm through SEC play next season unscathed and undefeated. Win the SEC Champion then blow through the playoffs undefeated. The end result we hoist the National Champion trophy and bring it to Lexington. Then in the years to come we'll proceed to go back to back to back National Champions. Just hang on baby cause the tides about to turn in a major way! We're about to knock the earth's core off it's imaginary axis and shock the nation baby!!!
Whooooooooo!!!!
Just kidding, that'd be nice though if things happened that way, other than knocking the earth outta rotation Lol
It's obvious to many here by now I try to be Mr Positive about things. Not only sports but life in general. But the though of this football season for the Cat's is really testing that. Now next year we play more SEC games, that's not something we need at all right now. Shoot I'm struggling with the though of us winning a conference game this year. We should win the 3 early non conference games. At least two of them, seriously wondering if we'll win all three of them Lol
I can see Vandy and Tennessee in the three games we play each year, in terms of closeness of travel. Can also see SC and Missouri. Not sure if closeness is a determining factor in deciding who we play every year. My luck we'll be stuck playing Bama, Georgia, and Texas every year Lol
Haven't heard from him in a bit, but I haven't seen anyone who can break things down like CJ can. I'm hoping he'll break down the Cat's outlook along with the rest of the SEC this season. After he does, one of two things will happen for me. One, I'll continue to carry this newly found negative attitude towards the Cat's chances this season. Or two, I just may regain hope and positivity again. More than likely it'll be the first of those things that happen for me Lol Shoot if we limp into a bowl game this season it'll be equivalent of us making the playoffs.

Listen, our very first game out of the box next Saturday is no gimme by any means. Toledo is considered the MAC favorite, and a few prognosticators have them making the playoffs as the highest rated team outside the Power 4. A loss in the opener, and we might be looking at a 3-9 type season, which would really kill any good feelings that remain around the football program.

I haven't followed college football any so far this year. Had no idea some was giving Toledo a shot at making the playoffs. Maybe if we do good in this one it may help us prepare for conference play.
