Class Acts
#1
Here is another top ten for you. Who are the ten classiest coaches in KY HS Football? It can be a head coach, or an assistant that is likely to become a head coach.

I have a rough draft in mind, but wanna reserve it for later on the thread.

One of the classiest coaches on the sidelines that I have been around is Coach Haywood from Belfry. He is a class act.

I don't think I can fill out a top 10 list, but Belfry coach Phillip Haywood is indeed a class act.
#4
Holcomb is a class act along with John Paul Chapman.

Never been a big Belfry fan but I think that without a doubt Coach Haywood is a true class act as a head coach on and off the field.

The parent meeting yesterday at Belfry consisted of Coach Haywood laying out a few points that were expected of the boys:

1. Respect for all teammates, coaches, adults in general, and other teams and coaches they were playing.

2. Discipline/Self-Discipline- They would adhere to the discipline of the coaches and program as well as achieve within themselves self-discipline.

3. Class- Win or lose, they would do it with class and would portray themselves with class on and off the field.

4. Fun- Playing and enjoying the game should be fun and something that you enjoy.

He went in depth with other issues, which I enjoyed listening to. The man is a stand up gentleman who will stand by his values and teaches the young men who play for him much more than the sport of football.

Haywood---He makes teenagers into football players then makes football players into men.
A classic Haywood story from early in his career was he benched a starter before a district game because he had a low B in Algebra, because he knew the young man could do better. The kid did extra class work the rest of the week brought the grade up to a high B and was allowed to play.

Coach IVAN McGLONE of RUSSELL would have to be on the top of my list, but I do agree with Coach Haywood, and Coach Vanderhoof of RACELAND

I concur!

not only is he number 2 in all time wins in ky, but does it with so much class and humbleness and that would be coach HAYWOOD.

I'm going with most of everyone else and saying, Phillip Haywood-Belfry. He's really a class act and shows a lot of respect for his opponents.

Haywood - NO DOUBT!

Haywood, Vanderhoof, McGlone, Holcomb... these are my top four. It is always cool to see how many people respect coach Haywood. I am not affiliated with Belfry in any way, but have always been extremely impressed with this man.

Sounds like a coach anyone could get along with. I'm surprised he even has "Fun" on this list. Coaches today usually aren't concerned about players having fun; they're usually just concerned if they can help them win (seeing that their job is at stake).
