Rep. Patrick Kennedy's decision not ntoseek re-election will leave Washington without a Kennedy in political office for the first time in almost 60 years.

He would not be hanging it up unless he was pretty sure that his days were numbered. In a few years, I would not be surprised to see him running for the Massachusetts Senate seat that Teddy the Swimmer held for so many years. If he can stay sober for a few years he might have a shot of returning to Congress.

Americans have short memories. Socialism will be back in style soon enough, and when it is, there will be at least one Kennedy pig ready to resume feeding at the public trough.
