No one giving Somerset much love. They lost a lot on the line but return their quarterback and all-state wide receiver and are coming off a year where they rolled through the mountains in 3A. I'm not saying they should be top 3 or even top 5 but you would think Somerset would get some preseason love in the mountains eventually.

Very early..but I'll take a shot:
1. Bell County- The class of the Mountains IMO.
2. Johnson Central- Clear cut #2.
3. Letcher Central- Very talented and if Johnson continues to develop they will contend in 5A with JC.
4. Sheldon Clark- Veteran team who finally overcame the Belfry mental hurdle.
5. Somerset- Most skilled Mountain 3A team, questions on the line.
6. Rockcastle County- One of mountain's best young RB's in Rowe, lots of returning talent
7. Harlan County- Larkey is slowly building Rockcastle version 2
8. Prestonsburg- Losing Burchett hurts, but still lots of experience and talent returns
9. Belfry- Belfry always has the talent, it's just this edition's talent is VERY young.
10. Knox Central- Good, but not on the level of their 4A counter-parts

Only lost 6 or 7 seniors. Backfield will be back, along with alot of key players. However lost some key players on defence.

If Somerset finds more speed to go with its size, strength and natural talent, it will be another great year for them.

Central, Lawrence County, Whitley County all lost their leaders and others who put up some very impressive numbers. I do think that Bell County and Johnson Central are without question the two top teams entering the season and I wouldn't be surprised to see some teams step up and surprise us all this season, much like what Lawrence County and Prestonsburg did in '09.
With out a doubt Bell and Johnson Central should be the top two teams,Pike Central should be third,Perry Central #4 i would agree Hazard is in lower group or should they be in it at all, this will be the year that Pike shows 3-A football they can win it all!!Go Hawks!!
