One of five senior linemen for the Class 6-A state champion Shamrocks, the 6-foot-6, 265-pound Warburg anchored the line at right tackle.
The Shamrocks scored 697 points in 14 games, amassing 456.9 yards a game including 225.8 yards a game on the ground. Trinity was ranked No. 1 nationally in several year-end polls.
âWe started him out as a gangly sophomore, thatâs the best way to describe him,â Trinity coach Bob Beatty. âBut he just got better and better. He has outstanding speed and athleticism. Our philosophy is that you get better by live bullets, so he was thrown into the fire (as a sophomore) and got better from game speed.â
Beatty said athleticism was a key factor in his development.
Warburg is also an accomplished water skier. He has won state in water skiing at least five times and has been ranked as high as No. 19 nationally in his age group.
Heâs been committed to Illinois since mid-July. âHis best football is ahead of him,â Beatty said.
