Boone County (19-12) followed up its 2010 Ninth Region championship by reaching the semifinals last season where it t lost a tough 4-3 decision to eventual champion Newport Central Catholic, and the Rebels return arguably the region’s top player in pitcher/infielder Doug Teegarden. Conner (21-11) marched to the regional championship game and returns only three returning position starters, but do return three starting pitchers. Ryle (22-10) also returns only three starters, but has two of the area’s top players in pitcher Mark Downs, a University of Cincinnati signee, and shortstop Leiff Clarkson, a Western Kentucky signee. Cooper (12-16) has continued making strides and now in its fourth season as a program could contend for a regional berth thanks to having five starters back and several players with three years experience.
