Sorry this should be in the softball section. Could a mod move it there for me?

Christian Academy started six freshmen and an eighth-grader, but it was senior Allison Foster who upended host Ballard, Kentucky’s No. 1 high school softball team, 2-0 Thursday night.

Foster, a right-hander who has signed with Bellarmine University, doubled home the first run and pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking one. It was the first loss to a Kentucky school this spring for Ballard (15-2).

“I didn’t know that,” Foster said. “We’ve been waiting a long time for this win. We’ve never beaten Ballard before.”

“This is the first time they’ve beaten us, and they deserved it,” Ballard coach Alan Jones said. “They outplayed us. Allison is one of the best pitchers in the state. She shut us down. We got beat by a great ballplayer.”

Ballard freshman Allison Wiseman gave up five hits, walked three and struck out four.

The unranked Centurions (11-3) avenged a 2-0 loss in the first round of last year’s Seventh Region Tournament.

“This is probably the biggest win in CAL softball,” coach Kyle Mullin said. “We teach them that the other team has to beat us. We’re just as good as anybody here. Allison is solid in every game she plays. Every game she pitches, we’re in it.”

After Jesse Adamczyk singled with one out in the third inning, Foster hit a double to deep right-center that drove in the speedy freshman.

Foster retired 11 straight batters until Breon Thomas singled to open the sixth. Foster then struck out Bailey Walker and got Jessica Adell to fly out to center field before Thomas was tagged out trying to steal second.

“Allison had a lot of movement (on her pitches),” freshman catcher Cassidy Cook said. “She was keeping the ball high and in on their hands. That was the best she’s thrown this year. She was gunning for this one.”

Brittany Mumford doubled to center to begin CAL’s sixth inning. After Jessica Powell lined out to center, freshman Bailey Tipmore beat out an infield hit as Mumford moved to third. Olivia Lefan lined out to first, but first baseman Hannah Gray threw wildly past third trying to double off Mumford, allowing her to score.
