Leslie County 38, Magoffin County 22
#1
It was a ugly first half for the Hornets as they trailed 32-0. It seemed as if they had the jitters with it being their first game of the season and Leslie Co. put a hurtin' on em quick. The second half the Hornets finally came to life and only allowed Leslie to score once, but it wasn't enough to come out of the deep hole they dug for themselves in the first half.

the only reason magoffin even scored 22 is cause lc pulled most start out of the game in the second quater. an let frehmen and sophmors play on d the rest of the second half. it couldve gotten ugly if they hadnt pulled the starters. #shutoutw

I never said that towards the end of the game Leslie started to pull some of the starters out. Regardless, Magoffin put up 22 points and could have against the starters had they not had a horrible first half. Magoffin had a lot of mistakes in the first half that Leslie capitalized on, 2 fumbles, a interception and a muffed punt. You take that away and it's a different ball game and Magoffin would've been right with Leslie, but that's not how it played out and Leslie got the win.

Win, Loose or Draw......

I'm just glad to see Magoffin Co. field a team and play after what they went through in March.

I am a big believer that shutouts aren't that important. A coach is better served to play a lot of players and give kids quality reps. This only helps your team develop quality depth.

There is a ton of upside for this young Hornet football team. They will only lose 3 players that actually play after this season. They should only get better. Defense needs to step up moreso than the offense. Not a bad outing for the Hornets IMO. Sure they lost but there was plenty of positive things that they can take from the game. I also want to say that I am very happy to see so many supporting the Hornets. They need all the support they can get right now. I want to encourage everyone to come over to Magoffin next Thursday night for the Founders Day bowl as they take on Paintsville. I would love to see and meet some of you guys there. Thank you all once again for all the support.

I couldn't agree more, a win is a win regardless if it's by 1 point or 40. It's better to give each kid a fair opportunity to play, instead of trying to run the other team into the ground.

You never can tell, I might slip in one of these nights, but Thursday night doesn't fit my pre-existing schedule. I'll be pulling for Magoffin!
