Highlands/Cov Cath II; Just how big is this game to both programs?
#1
With a seeming cake walk to the finals to the victor as well as the possibility of a record 6 straight titles on the line, I think this will be the most talked about game in the history of the storied rivalry and by far the biggest game in Kentucky high school football this season. Could we see another "Tyson vs. Douglas"? This game couldn't be scripted any better with Highlands greatest adversary potentially playing the spoiler.

It will be the BIGGEST game...........of the year for each team. That's it!

I'm a Lex Cath homie, but I will go out on a limb here and say that the winner of this game will the state 4A champ. Contenders will be up there ie. Lex Cath, Russell Co, Knox Co, Collins and Lone Oak.

^ I agree with that! I don't see the Colonels being any more of a challenge in the 2nd game as I did the first game, but I do see the winner of game 2 as the next State champ

this will be a big game because it would be a playoff game, unless Ashland had other plans. I'll tell you the most talked about game this year will be Central at Bell County in the playoffs

I obviously disagree. There's a mountain of "stuff" riding on this game between the Birds and CCH. A win by CCH would put this rivalry into the stratosphere and would hands down become the most talked about game in the history of the series, possibly even eclipsing the infamous mudbowl, IMO. Bell/Central? Come on.

I admire your enthusiasm stackem but until a HHS-CCH game goes into triple OT in the playoffs nothing will beat the infamous mudbowl. And the chances of triple OT are unlikely. Not to mention the weather conditions on a turf field.

Hope this years game is close.

1. Bell County is in the mountains, most of the members on this site are in the mountains, and Central has to travel down there.

2. the CovCath/ Highlands rivalry is very emotional, but definitely one sided, especially lately

3. whoever wins the game will go on to win state, but this isn't anywhere near the 97 mudbowl.

I think a win for CCH would be bigger for their program than a lose would be for Highlands.

Aren't you "putting the cart before the horse" with this thread?

I thought that once the playoffs started both teams will probably have to win two playoff games to get a rematch. I know these teams are probably the class of region 4, but I think the Tomcats of Ashland may be s stumbling block for CCHS.

Bir will pick the Tomcats apart. 4A is NKY, hands down.
