Tully Blanchard
#1
Tully Blanchard was one of the greatest wrestlers ever. BTW Stardust, he owned Dusty in the ring.

Another Dusty beat down.

His greatest match is arguably the "I Quit" Steel Cage match against Magnum T.A

Such a brutal, brutal match for its time.

That was a great match BUT Tully lost so I didn't like it much lol! My favorite match was the first blood match with Dusty at the 86 Starcade. BTW J Rod good to see you back.

The Tully-Dusty feud is one of my all time favorite feuds. It was my favorite era of wrestling in my favorite organization- NWA. My memory may be clouded by my bias but Tully owned Dusty as I recall. BTW, the slingshot suplex was absolutely devastating. I remember watching a matching in Huntington, WV between Tully, Arn, and Ole vs. The Road Warriors and some partner I don't recall. When the match first started someone backed Animal up on the ropes and the top rope collapsed. They both fell out of the ring. Tully still won the match for his team with a slingshot off the second rope.

Tully was an awesome character. May well be my Favorite Horseman. He was sneaky and mischievous, but was a great worker. Could have been an NFL QB but followed in his dads footsteps from the Pro Wrestling factory West Texas State.

Speaking of West Texas State being a Wrestling factory - These guys were all on the 1969 WTS team! Incredible for so many great athletes at the same time!

Quote:While Jerry Logan, Ralph Anderson, Morris, Thomas, Thompson, Jim Weatherwax, and Hank Washington (see author John Maxymuk’s fine article in the Professional Football Researchers Association newsletter, Vol. 30, No. 5 of 2008) carried the Kerbel-inspired Buffs legacy into the pro football ranks, the wrestling roster looks like a Who’s-Who of that sporting genre. Tackle Dory Funk, Jr.; Guard Terry Funk; Guard “Dusty” Rhodes; the late Frank Goodish better known as Bruiser Brody, another tackle who went to camp with the Redskins and subsequently played in the CFL; Linebacker Stan Hansen who was signed by the Colts; Tackle Bobby Duncom who spent time with the Cardinals; Quarterback Tully Blanchard; Defensive Tackle Ted “The Million Dollar Man” DiBiase; and Merced Solis, better known to his fans as Tito Santana..

I can't recall the title, but Tully has a very good Autobiography out as well. It does skew to his new career as a minister, but he tells some pretty good Four Horsemen stories!

Dusty, I was trying to get you going with this one and all you did was drop knowledge on us. This thread was a flop. I guess I'll have to take shots at SK's favorite wrestlers, but then again how do you insult a Kane fan. They are already rock bottom.
