Craziest play you have ever seen in a High School game?
#1
Just saw this on ESPN! Kid in Indiana blocks punt off the corner scramble for the ball other teams player ( not the kicker) picks ball up close to his end zone and tries to kick it but same kid blocks it again! Two blocked kicks on one play and his team recovered it for a TD!!

The one where we run up more than 500 yds of O on the putty tats and lost. That was crazy!

If we are talking plays that I have seen. I don't know if I can think of anything exceptional but I can think of two plays that stand out, maybe because of how much they sting.

Belfry/Central - State Title, 2 years ago game winning TD pass. Was a thing of beauty, as much as it hurt it is one of the prettiest TD passes I have seen in the HS game.

Belfry / Sheldon Clark - Regional Title Game, Have to reach back to my Sophomore year of HS at BHS in 1998. Coming off a big time win over a stellar Bell Co team we faced Sheldon Clark who we stomped earlier in the year. Cardinal player literally crawled into the end zone (in my memory) and we lost 16-15, Highlands would have likely smoked us in the semis that year but that SC loss still stings because of that play.

Last friday night.... a 60 yard field goal by JC's Tyler Pack.

I don't remember what state it was in but I saw one on fox sports about 10 years ago. In a state championship a team was up by 3 with 8 seconds left. It was 4th down on their own 15 yard line, the other team had a timeout, the qb ran back into the end zone and threw the ball straight up when the clock hit zero, it stayed inbounds and a lineman on the other team caught it for a td. Ballgame.

On kickoff, kicker kicked a line drove right off the back of the helmet of the blocker directly in front of him and it bounced right back to him and he recovered it. Can't remember who we were playing. It was shipped to be a squib.

Here at 2:50 in the video Pikeville versus Shelby Valley in 2011. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Randy Maynard's pass drills WR Gavin Miller in the knee, and bounces backwards about 6 yards in the air into the arms of RB Chase Hall, who picks up the 1st down.

(4:30 of video below) And at the end of the first half of Pikeville versus Shelby Valley in 2012, WR Cody Estep hauls in a pass from QB Squeak Charles, after eluding a rush, as time expires, but is stripped short of the goal line. After some confusion and a scramble, Estep gets back to his feet after being tackled and recovers his own fumble for a Panther TD.

Perry Central vs Knox Central 2004, Perry intercepted Knox and was returning it up field, Brandon Willis for Perry laid a devastating block (literally the hardest hit i've seen in person) on a Knox wide receiver, ended up starting a quite a fight. Literally. Police had to escort a Perry player off the field and several bottles and other objects were thrown on the field. Good times.

The JC half back pass against ashland in 2006 in the playoffs. Also the wheel route With the backup quarterback hitting a well covered JK hall in the corner of the endzone. And 4th and 10 last year. All three of those still sting.

Craziest I've seen on video

Craziest I've seen in person was a hook and ladder that won Lebanon (OH) a state championship in the late 90s

Taylor Co HB pass down 6 points with 45 secs left in the 4th on 4th and 15 to beat my powell co pirates by 1 in the 2009 state playoffs, trulyan unbelievable game to be a part of

Two quick ones I think of is Josh Dixon powerslamming a kid from West Carter on a kickoff. And I mean like WWE powerslamming. And Sani Warren literally ripping the ball out of a receivers hands after a catch against Breathitt in 2011.

I have videos of both but idk how to embed them on here.

SK kicked a field goal against Conner a few years ago. Conner blocked it Chad Lawrence caught it and thread it for a touchdown. It was either a touchdown or 2 point conversion.

1974 at Corbin. Evarts was ahead of Corbin 14-7 with about 2:00 left in the game. Corbin had the ball on their own 20 yard line. Corbin runs a sweep around left end. The running back trips and falls down to both knees. Both teams stop but the whistle never blows. The Corbin running back jumps up and runs an 80 yard touchdown. Corbin makes the 2-point conversion and wins the game 15-14.

I was discussing the play with a long time Corbin fan the other day. He said after the game one of the game officials told a huge Corbin financial booster who also happened to be the official's employer at the time "Don't ever ask me to do that again." The booster/employer's response was "I didn't ask you to do it this time."

1980 Williamsburg at Cumberland HS. Cumberland has ball to start 1st OT. Williamsburg picks off pass in endzone and returns to the 14 yard line. Billie Joe Idol rules Williamsburg has their 4 downs to go 86 yards. Wburg gains several yards but Cumberland ends up winning in double OT.
At that point in time in OT rules you could advance fumble or Int but ball would be place on 10 for 1st and goal if no TD on play. That play caused the rule to be changed to where you cannot advance a fumble or Int in OT.
