Hereâs a look at how the Louisville-area football districts shape up entering Fridayâs last round of district action.
CLASS 6-A, DISTRICT THREE
Fridayâs Seneca (2-6, 2-0) at Butler (6-2, 2-0) will decide the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds. Fridayâs Southern (4-4, 0-2) at PRP (3-5, 0-2) game will decide the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds. This district is matched up with District Six in the playoffs. Simon Kenton (9-0, 4-0) has clinched the No. 1 seed. Campbell County (5-3, 2-1) will get the No. 2 seed with a win Friday over Boone County (0-8, 0-3). If Campbell County wins that game, Fridayâs Ryle (2-7, 1-2) at Dixie Heights (5-3, 1-2) game will determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds.
CLASS 6-A, DISTRICT FOUR
This race is over, as Male (8-0, 2-0) will be the No. 1 seed, followed by No. 2 Trinity (4-4, 2-1), No. 3 St. Xavier (5-4, 1-2) and No. 4 Manual (6-2, 0-2). Fridayâs Male at Manual game will not affect those seeds. District Four is matched with District Five in the playoffs. See analysis below.
CLASS 6-A, DISTRICT FIVE
Fern Creek (5-3, 2-0) can wrap up the No. 1 seed with a win at Eastern (3-4, 1-1) on Friday. If Fern Creek wins, Ballard (3-5, 1-1) would wrap up the No. 2 seed with a victory Friday against visiting Oldham County (2-6, 0-2). If both Eastern and Ballard win, there would be a three-way tie for first place. Fern Creek currently leads the tiebreaker scenario, but that wouldnât be settled until after the regular season ends.
CLASS 5-A, DISTRICT THREE
John Hardin (6-2, 3-0) will wrap up the No. 1 seed with a win over Grayson County (4-4, 2-1) on Friday, but it gets complicated from there. Assuming John Hardin beats Grayson County, Iroquois (4-4, 1-2) would get the No. 2 seed with a win at Jeffersontown (1-7, 1-2) on Friday. If John Hardin beats Grayson County and Jâtown beats Iroquois, Grayson County would get the No. 2 seed, Jâtown the No. 3 and North Hardin (1-8, 1-3) the No. 4. Iroquois would be left out. District Three will face District Four in the playoffs.
CLASS 5-A, DISTRICT FOUR
The winner of Fridayâs Bullitt East (7-1, 2-0) at Shelby County (4-3, 1-1) game will be the No. 1 seed. If Bullitt East wins, there will be a three-way tie for second among Shelby County, Bullitt Central (4-4, 1-2) and North Bullitt (3-5, 1-2). If Shelby County wins, Bullitt East would be the No. 2, Bullitt Central No. 3 and North Bullitt No. 4.
CLASS 5-A, DISTRICT FIVE
South Oldham (6-3, 4-0) has wrapped up the No. 1 seed. Fridayâs Scott (7-1, 2-1) at Conner (6-2, 2-1) game will decide the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds. Cooper (2-6, 0-3) will play at Grant County (1-7, 0-3) on Friday to determine the final playoff spot. This district is matched up with District Six in the playoffs. Anderson County will be the No. 1 seed, with Franklin County facing Montgomery County on Friday to determine the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds.
CLASS 4-A, DISTRICT THREE
Fridayâs North Oldham (6-2, 3-0) at Collins (6-2, 3-0) game will determine the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds. Fridayâs Waggener (1-7, 1-2) at Spencer County (4-4, 1-2) game will determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds. Atherton (0-9, 0-4) has been eliminated from playoff consideration. District Three will face District Four in the playoffs.
CLASS 4-A, DISTRICT FOUR
Western (4-4, 4-0) has wrapped up the No. 1 seed, no matter the outcome of Fridayâs game at Valley (1-7, 1-3). Nelson County (6-3, 3-1) will get the No. 2 seed with a win over Moore (4-5, 2-2) on Friday. Doss (5-4, 2-2) will play at Fairdale (0-8, 0-4) on Friday. The likely district order will be Western, Nelson County, Doss and Moore, with Valley and Fairdale left out.
CLASS 3-A, DISTRICT THREE
Central (5-3, 2-0) has wrapped up the No. 1 seed and will play at LaRue County (0-8, 0-2) on Friday. Assuming a Central victory, Fridayâs Elizabethtown (6-2, 1-1) at Henry County (5-3, 1-1) game will determine the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds. District Three will face District Four in the playoffs. Wayne County has wrapped up the No. 1 seed and likely will be followed by No. 2 Bell County, No. 3 Corbin and No. 4 Casey County.
CLASS 2-A, DISTRICT FOUR
Christian Academy (9-0, 6-0) has wrapped up the No. 1 seed and will get a first-round bye in the playoffs because District Three has only three teams. DeSales (7-1, 4-1) will be the No. 2 seed and will wrap up district play Friday at Thomas Nelson (0-9, 0-5). Bardstown (6-2, 3-2) would get the No. 3 seed with a victory at Shawnee (3-5, 1-4) on Friday, with Fridayâs Fort Knox (2-6, 2-3) at Washington County (3-5, 2-3) game determining the No. 4 seed. District Four will face District Three in the playoffs, with Glasgow likely to be the No. 1 seed, followed by Green County and Metcalfe County.
CLASS A, DISTRICT TWO
Bethlehem (7-1, 2-0) will play at Holy Cross (5-3, 2-0) on Friday to determine the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds. Fridayâs Caverna (2-6, 0-2) at Kentucky Country Day (3-5, 0-2) game will determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds. District Two will face District One in the playoffs.
