Elder (OH) 30 - Highlands 27
#1
Final
#2
Tense game that went right down the the final seconds. Highlands can play ball with anyone.

The Cannon Still Roars.....

Missed opportunities in the first and third quarters. Good game though and good prep for the playoffs to FINALLY play someone in a close game.

Definitely not a bird fan but that's the way to get after it boy's. Tough loss but good job!

Congrats to the Panthers on the win and to Highlands for keeping them on the ropes.

Hope all escaped injury free and continued success for the duration!

Houliston went out in the 4th quarter BUT the announcers indicated he was throwing well on the sideline so it looked like he had recovered. No other apparent injuries for either team according to Highlands announcers.

Good prep game for the playoffs.

Great game! Highlands had their chances to win just made too many mistakes. Good job by the D against the run but had trouble stopping the pass and scrambling QB. Elder WR's were good. Mentioned in other threads that to beat highlands you have to throw the ball, that is their weakness. Highlands will not see a better pass D in playoffs. Feggins had over 200 yards receiving, no one will stop him. Great tune up game for playoffs. A couple boys banged up but looks like everyone will be ok.

Highlands let me down. I think other than Somerset, this is the only one I picked wrong this week.

Sounded like this was a barn burner of a game.

What is Elder ranked this year in Ohio?
#12
There are 2 regions in Div I. Elder is ranked 8th in region 2 with now a 7-2 record.
#13
This should merely wake up Fort Thomas. It may have removed the chance of an upset in the playoffs.

Obviously the bluebird faithful would never concede to moral victories but I think they have to be pleased with the outcome of this one. I'm sure they had their chances at winning this one but keeping this close against a GCL school like Elder at their place is a statement in itself. How is Highlands QB today, I heard that he was shook up during this game??

The GCL is on a whole other level of football.
That truly is the hot spot for high school football in this country.
Those teams are so dominant every year.

No shame in this loss.

That is the Harbin Rankings, IMHO the Harbins do not rank teams as to their relative strengths, but are more of a SOS ranking, but not exactly. Colerain is #5 in the Harbin Ratings for Elder's region. No way Colerain is the fifth best in that region.

Elder is ranked as the #3 team in the greater Cincinnati (Ohio) schools by the Cincinnati Enquirer behind Colerain and Moeller. Highlands is the #1 ranked team in NKY by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
