Some of you might not agree with a lot of my thoughts, might think I'm arrogant, or anything else, but what matters to me is helping other people and making a difference in people's lives. That's why I'm majoring in Communications- so I can do my public speaking deal forever and just try to make a difference in kids' or adults' lives. But I'm minoring in accounting, just in case I need a way to make money to cover my expenses.
Anyways, I'm volunteering down in Covington and Over The Rhine doing taxes for people who can't afford to pay people to do it for them. Last week, this lady comes in: she works in a high school cafeteria, her husband died, her son is sort of mentally challenged and lives with her but can't work or anything, and her daughter's in jail so she also has her granddaughter living with her. She has all this going on in her life, and has to care for her son and granddaughter, completely sad story. I did her taxes, and she got like a $3,000 refund, made me feel awesome........ just had a smile on my face from the second I told her until I went to bed that night.
What means the world to everyone else?

The things that mean the world to me is to see all of my friends happy and my family as well. And when I am able and willing to do good things for the people I care about and love, but it makes me feel a whole lot better to do things for people that I dont know that well, it holds a special place in my heart when I do good for someone else. This is an awesome thread you have started here Fritz!

I have to agree with the both of you and just saying that bringing a smile to someone else's face puts one on mine as well. Of course it is important to help those near and dear to you but strangers always make me melt. I always throw a hand in appreciation when someone helps me out on the road or a smile to a stranger when our eyes meet when I'm out somewhere. You never know what these people are going through and something just as simple as smile could make their day. I was in a grocery store a little over a week ago and we were expecting some bad weather. I heard a little old lady asking for some cans of green beans because she wouldn't reach them and she said "I know if I run out of food then I can eat green beans for a long time." It BROKE my heart because there are so many elderly out there living on a fixed income and you never know when things happen that are unexpected and their money has to go somewhere else. I seriously wanted to hand her every dollar that I had in my pocket. I make a point to help out in any way that I possibly can whether it be picking up something for a person whether they notice that they dropped it or not or even helping them load groceries. The thing that means the world to me is also knowing that I just make a difference no matter how big or how small things seem.

When I go into a school far away or with people who have never heard of me or don't know me that well and then they get amazed by the way I am or the way that I communicate or my sense of humor or my attitude towards life or anything at all. Kids, and adults but mostly kids, have told me that me being positive, enjoying life, and the message I have makes them realize what really matters in life or that their lives aren't horrible, and a few kids have told me I took suicide out of their head because they were considering it.
It means the world to me and I wanna do it forever....... I hope I never change
