I cannot understand why players like Jackson Johnson and Danny Hall are not playing in the secondary, especially at safety where we need the most help. Dotson and Rose have done a good job in the secondary but the others back there have been roasted repeatedly. I understand the coaches should know their players better than the fans but for the life of me I can't see how you keep starting players that miss numerous tackles and get burned for touchdowns in every game we have played this year. Thus far if the Dawgs run game doesn't put up at least 45 points against 9-10 man fronts every week, we lose.
Even if they didn't have kids that could play both ways, there are several defensive schemes that you can use that will mask your weaknesses. Sometimes high school coaches get caught up in wanting to have "fresh" guys on both sides of the ball. These are teenagers. They don't wear down like some think. If you have somebody playing offense that is also your best option at DB or safety or anywhere for that matter, they need to be playing. Otherwise, you are doing a disservice to the entire team. Same goes for offense. People act like it's taboo to have somebody going both ways. This is high school football where you can't recruit who you want. You have to adjust to the talent in front of you. Twenty years ago kids would get offended if they came out of a game and didn't play both ways. If LC had an 80 man roster then I would understand but they don't. As a coach, if something isn't working you change it. If not, I'm worried LC will continue to be an average 6-8 win team and never make it past the quarterfinals.

We will never be good as when I was In school 98- 01 unless the program starts from the youth league up. It's frustrating as a fan, you see the numbers are up and talent there but just no idea of how to use talent. Chuke understood where to place players. Short is still kinda raw and think he is catering to his buddies on the coaching staff. If he ultimately wants to be a success he will have to fire some personal. It's nothing personal to anyone just business.

I understand trying to get as many kids involved as you can to keep kids rested and healthy and also to play as many as you can to get them experience and keep them interested in playing cuz nobody wants to be on the bench. The other side to that is by doing so, we are not playing the best 11 we can and some of the ones that are playing just are not getting the job done and are hurting the team. Things may change once district games start. The coaches may have been using these early games to better determine who can and can't hack it. I hope that is the case anyways. I guess we will find out next week when district starts.

70+? You have got to be kidding me. That makes this situation even worse. A 3A school with 70+ on the roster is a lot, or maybe I'm just too old and that is a normal number. Unless I'm wrong, they've played a 1A, a 2A, two 3A schools, and a 4A school, and one of their two losses was to the 1A school. However, that 1A school is pretty solid and they did shutout the same Greenup team that put up 38 on LC. It seems like their offense is there. Hopefully you are right and Coach Short is trying to feel out his team for the first part of the year to see what kind of depth he has. However, I think anyone with descent vision can tell you the depth isn't there. Lol! I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he is going to make the needed adjustments and LC will finish 6-4 and have solid showing until they meet Belfry. Maybe he is the type of coach that could care less about records? However, it has to be discouraging every year to know you have to go through Belfry to do anything.
