Who knows more about football players? Coaches or media? People who get their stuff together and honor a kid during football finals or people who wait 2 months for a footnote during basketball season?

Whoever is in charge of this should set a date each year, and actually let people know when the announcement is to be expected. To me it takes a little shine and prestige off the award because it seems to be a poorly organized event. This does an injustice to the players involved.

THIS is the reason the coaches association decided to name their own. The "OLD" award was just an afterthought to the people selecting it.

Media vote is a joke it takes them a while to trade their votes, just about like pro sports. I will trade you my vote for a future vote or one in another sport. I have seen kids recieve all state AP votes that played only one game that year and didn't have any stats the previous year. I remember a local team that finished just above 500% and had 12 kids recieving all state votes or honorable mention. FAKE NEWS HAS LOST CREDIBILITYnicker:

I typically agree that media in Kentucky is stupid.

It is terribly disorganized compared to the 1980s and early 90s when the awards were determined by early December.
