And the very next season Haddix took Corbin to the semis where Corbin has finished no less than ever since. The roster went from 40 kids to over 100 just by changing coaches, most of last season seniors including Estep would never have played for Jewell....You can say thereâs other coaches in the 606 better than Haddixâs and Iâll agree with you but Haddix >Jewell every single day and twice on Sunday.

The 2014 Roster had 54 players (9-12 per KHSAA) so a long way from 100!
Just ask all the players that have come from the program the last 5 years their thoughts on the coaching. Then you will find out the truth.

Per KHSAA:
Corbin 2013 Roster (9-12) 70 players
2014 (9-12 Haddix first season) 54 players.

Time will tell, thatâs for sure.
Ok I can talk to you now.... Jewell was my high school coach I don't dislike him but if I had it to do over i'd have never played for him, I can talk to him to this day but rather not, don't wish anything bad on him he's a decent man just not an admirer.....I'd love to have seen our kids have won a state championship as much as anyone but don't get it twisted if championship caliber coaches were as easy to come by as some of you are making it Dudley Hilton wouldn't be back on log mountain for the third time in the last 30 years and if Jewell had been the coach the last couple years with Stephney at Bell, Dudley would have beat us again just like he always did when Jewell was coach....

I completely agree! I played for jewell. I like him as the person. But not as the coach. He was a decent coach, average I guess. Nothing special, but def overstayed his welcome. And wasted years of talent. It was the same thing every year up until close to the end. Win district, maybe win region. And one trip to the semiâs we a weak playoff route. All the while, playing a schedule a little tougher than what Dudley Hilton plays. I like Steve the person. Heâs a good man, he was a heck of player, and he had done a lot for Corbin. But a head coach, not so great. He would be 5-5 every year with the schedule we play now. Haddix isnât a savior, but has done very well. People forget heâs been here a short amount of time still, and had accomplished a lot. And heâs still very young. People will dog him this year because we are young and somewhat down. That happens to every team. Theyâll say he isnât nothing without Tommy G or the other assistants. That just isnât true. Are we worse off coaching wise than last year? Yes. But things will get back to what they were in that regard when we get some Teaching spots open. I donât care if youâre Haywood, Smith, Matney, whomever! They wouldnât be where they were without a good support staff. People just want to hate, mostly because of envy

Lex is probably a stretch for us this year we are young and 4A is loaded with really great teams....I'm sure Mayfield will be there and wish them nothing but luck when they're not playing the hounds I've become a big Mayfield fan....

Corbin by 3 tdâs. Beechwood is way down this season.

I still tbink this will be a close game. Unless beechwood is that bad. We are very young, and still very inexperienced. The one thing that does make me feel better is there hasnât been a lot of chatter from tiger fans this year. But they always say the quiet ones are the most dangerous, so I dunno??

If I hear you right.....but don't forget Haddix ran them off and spoke he was tired of Greer's defense. So...........On this thread Corbin will win big tonight against a down Beechwood team.

I may be wrong, but I thought Greer went to Board of Education and had announce that he wasnât coaching anymore. The other coaches may have been let go or moved away.
Greer will take care of Haddix as a head coach, just wait and see.. He referred our basketball game and had nothing but good things to say about Haddix..
Corbin by 30 over Beechnut

Well are numbers are way down only 57 players now. With more threatening to quit. Seniors just went to haddix together to complain about favoritism given to certain players. Haddix has issues with promising players things and not delivering, players are learning his game, hence why numbers went up and are now in downward spiral, lost one yesterday, others that said they were quitting he talked them out of it and they played in place of a senior next game.
There is no discipline, wasnât a huge Jewel fan (but he is a great person and a disciplined coach with values) as was Greer!!
Corbin teams of the past were disciplined and respectful. Now D1 prospects are last in sprints, players stand and dance and talk while others on knees and coach is talking, friends of programs sons had earn their way, including Buddy Ro son under Cotton.
Haddix is Young and right winning to him comes before anything including practicing in 94 degree weather in full pads when it is illegal and other schools in helmets only. Hopefully wisdom will come with time.
Now With play calling he is well ahead of our old school coaches, and one of most innovative in state putting in new formations weekly.
So while people that love him say he is great and others see flaws. All in All he needed to keep a veteran coach around to whisper in his ear. I do think that if he doesnât get in trouble for some of his rule bending and lack of discipline he will become at top high school coach with time and probably move to college level.
Hope he becomes humble and succeeds!
Corbin wins big tonight.
Just what I see and hear in Corbin.
