Question, When does the seeding begin
#1
Final 8 or Final 4
#2
3rd round seeds the east 4 and west 4. 4th round reseeds the final 4 based off the RPI regardless of east or west.
#3
Round 3 is East/West 1-4.

Round 4 is statewide 1-4.

Seeding in the middle of playoffs does not make any sense.

The way I understand it regions 1-4 stay in the west, regions 5-8 stay in the east, and the semi-states are seeded, in other words it’s not taking the last 8 teams and seeding them 1-8 , but after reading an article in the Courier Journal I believe I maybe wrong it looks like the Semi-states will be seeded state wide.

This has the potential to be a traveling nigh mare.. Can you imagine say Belfry as a #1 seed and Paducah Tilghman as a #4 seed.. That'd be a 7 or 8 hour drive.. How about Mayfield as a #1 seed with Shelby Valley as a #4.. Same thing.. There are several legitimate scenarios that games like that could happen.

Not sure but think the sub sate and state title games both at Kroger Field so might have to go to Lexington 2 weeks in a row

I don't think the semi's are in Lexington.Highest seeds get home field semi's.

Think about potential championship games:

1A - Pikeville vs Paintsville
2A - Mayfield vs Somerset
3A - Belfry vs CAL
4A - Boyle Co vs Johnson Central
5A - CovCath vs Frederick Douglass
6A - Male vs Trinity

Wow. 😳

Fake news. Only the state title games will be at Kroger Field.

They are seeding district champions.

District matchups in the post season are earned during the regular season.

Regional finals (3rd round) is when it really starts the "seeding" process.

I tried to use the formula and keep track of it for one team just to see if I could....

Yeah forget that noise!

I will leave it up to the KHSAA computers to figure out or else it is going to be maddening to try and track all the "opponents' win percentage" and "opponents' opponents win percentage".

All I can figure out is WINS REIGN SUPREME! No win.... no points. It doesnt matter if you play the Green Bay Packers and only lose by a point... you might as well have played Jenkins and lost by 30 cause you are getting the same points.

You see that little "GR" below? Either you are umltiplying everything inside the parenthesis by 1 or by 0. If it is a zero, no matter what happens inside those parenthesis, guess what your value for that game is? You guessed it ZERO.

Each game RPI = GR*((0.35 × WP) + (0.35 × OWP) + (0.30 × OOWP))
Total RPI is summative
GR=Game Result. 1.0 for a win, .5 for a tie, 0 for a loss
WP=Winning Percentage of the Team being reviewed
OWP=Opponents Winning Percentage
OOWP=Opponents’ Opponents Winning Percentage

The way I understand is if you play an out of state team it does not take their wins into consideration. The system automatically gives you 5 points for beating an out of state team whether you beat Hurley, VA or one of the big schools in Ohio. I definitely think this could change the way teams schedule moving foward. Also games at the end of the year could have greater significance due to the points system. Previously belfry and johnson central would rest players in this game to get ready for the playoffs but now that game could be a huge win because the amount of points you could pick up from it. The first two rounds should be decided before week 10 this year.

Out of state opponents winning percentage will still be used in the formula, but THEIR opponents winning pct will all be figured at .500. All of this is laid out on the KHSAA website.
