Take away Johnson Central and you have two 1A schools, one 2A school and one 3A school. Not tough enough to be "Toughest in the Mountains".

For a school as small as Paintsville that's tough. I was just addin Paintsville to blackcat_student list behind Pburg, who he had at #5 toughest.

Valley's schedule is far from being weak. They play Belfry, Breathitt County, Prestonsburg, Knox Central, and Appalachia (Va). And all except P-Burg are non-district contests. While I will readily admit that SV is not ready to hang with all the teams they scheduled, at least they're not ducking strong competiton.
Comparing their games to those of the schools mentioned in blackcat_student's list should be enough to get Valley mentioned into the top 10 mountain schedules.

The title reads "Who has the toughest schedule in EKY." Last time I looked at a map, Ashland was in Eastern Kentucky.

Why is that? I admire Coach Goldsmith for his "play anybody anytime" attitude. But, part of a Head Coach's job is to evaluate your talent and schedule accordingly. All those losses (to good opponents, btw) can't be good for players' confidence. Getting into the playoffs with a poor record just don't seem very rewarding. I applaud the Dawgs fans for hanging in there and staying positive, though. That's what true fans do. Good luck at Breathitt.
