How do you beat Bell Co then get Peter rolled by potentially one of the worst programs in the state….Only in Laurel Co

I’m going to guess NL has zero pass defense. Only thing that makes sense with knowing nothing on this game.

Good win for Coach Hines & The Cards

This was the WYMT GOTW, so I had it on the TV. I also had 4 other games streaming on different devices, so I could be wrong about this. It seemed to me that North Laurel led for a good portion of the game, but they ran out of gas in the second half. They just didn't play well.

North looked like they had never even seen a football game let alone played in one. Linemen
missed assignments right and left. They used 2 QB's and it appeared one of them was playing
for South. Fans by us said there was a lot of internal stuff going on with North, I am not sure what
it is exactly but it could have been it showed up in that game. They were not the team we saw
play the 1st couple of games. It was a bad night for NL someone needs to get their attention
and get them back on track, or their season is all but over. I will say athletically NL had them
beat 90% at every position, they did not utilize their ability Friday night which is evident by this
score.

Got to watch this livestream along with a couple others and I’m positive a couple of these comments are from north Laurel people or from someone who did not actually watch the game. As an fyi, you can still go watch it back on wymt if you want. With that said there is zero chance that last INT was on purpose and I can’t believe someone would insinuate that about a kid out there giving it their all. The DB from south jumped an out route that was ran sloppy by the WR drifting up field and the QB also got hit right after releasing the ball.
Give South Laurel credit, they took this game in the 4th after trying to give it away early.
Here is what I saw, other than the early touchdown drive in the first quarter south Laurel defense played a bend don’t break type thing for much of 3 quarters and then dominated in the 4th quarter. It appeared the smaller faster DL from south just wore down the big guys from north. Add in some nice 4th quarter linebacker play/blitz schemes and south laurel took the game in the 4th. It seemed like #10 ran in 10yd chunks early but wasn’t able to do that as well after halftime adjustments by south.
I totally disagree on north better at 90% of the positions comment. What I saw is a North Laurel size advantage up front and an advantage at RB but otherwise South just out athleted North. I’m going to say North may have been “better” at 3 or 4 positions on the field. Now they may be “better” at more spots on paper or whatever but not in that game last night playing football.
The south Laurel QB & WRs picked the defense apart and it seemed like they connected on all but just a few of their pass plays. If not for fumbling issues in the first half the final score would have been way worse as they were moving the ball at will. That south secondary smothered any attempt at a north pass and ultimately sealed the game at the end.
What a turnaround in 1 year for Coach Hines and that program. I along with many other said on here months ago when it happened that Hines was a home run hire and that seems to be the case.

If you watched it over then what you saw & what I saw were 2 different things. I guess you could call us NL people
we follow NL but all of the 13th region teams. Anyone can go and watch it and come to their own conclusion about
that play. That didn't beat NL it just looked curious to everyone in the stands including the crew I was with. (That being
said read my 2nd paragraph).

I am not sure what the offense for NL was attempting to do exactly, dual QB's most of the time doesn't work out well
because it's hard to get in any kind of rhythm for HS players, being pulled in and out on certain plays like those 2 players
were????? I'm thinking they were both getting pretty frustrated themselves with that being called by the offense that way,
I could be wrong but that is what we took away from it.

I stated the 90% wrong: what I meant was, North has better athletes at 90% of the positions on the field on paper and off,
but you are right not last night. Not taking anything away from SL they showed up for the party last night for what ever reason NL didn't.
SL doesn't look like the same team from last year, their program appears to be on the upward swing and that just makes things better for
the 13th region, and I should tell you that is where our interest is - in the 13th region being competitive. I honestly believe NL will make
some adjustments and have some come to Jesus meetings in the immediate future and get back on track, a lot of us hope so and that
they can play up to their potential and to what we have seen them do earlier this season. We pull for every team in the 13th Region,
and SL and NL when they play anyone else in the 13th, we lean toward NL because we have friends with kids on that team. That's
my story and I am sticking to it!

North Laurel didn't play the way they are capable of. They battled in the trenches all night against physical Bell County and Whitley County teams. Saying South Laurel wore them down is silly BS .
