Open Job: Greenup County
#1
The Greenup County job was posted this afternoon on the district's website.
#2
Have seen what they have at the jr high level. Be hard to give that job away
#3
Hearing a highly respected young canidate has applied. The kind of hire that could totally turn a program around.

They need that Ram-A-Devil was correct their middle school teams (especially Wurtland) were weak.

Who is the young candidate? If they’re interested, they wouldn’t mind it being out there.

From what I am hearing, Greenup is trying their best to screw this hire up as well. A young very experienced coach is an obvious pick but they will mess it up.  There is a Boyd Co. coach that applied and would be a horrible idea. That is probably what Greenup will do based off of there most recent decisions.  If I had a kid at GC, I would be on the phone with the main office letting them know that we are watching everything they are trying to do. The Superintendent will cater to the sports that her kid plays only.  Ask some Greenup people about all the shady stuff that went on with the Volleyball coach that she fired and look and see who was hired in her place. It was a control move… GC will be GC and it is a shame.  AD has to go too.  Shew…. Who made that hire. Greenup is a mess.  Time to clean house and start fresh… again.  SMH

I keep hearing Jordan Brangers will get this position.

Greenup needs stability. Arguably they haven't had it since the Randy Ward days. I believe three coaches in the last 5 or 6 years? That's not a winning formula for any program. I don't know the inner workings but something is amiss. They have one of my favorite high school gym's but the atmosphere is just not there anymore. I would love to see it return. I'm on the outside looking in so I don't have answers but I sure hope they find some.
#10
Jordan Brangers should get this position.  Young coach that will bring good competitive basketball back to Greenup.  The skill development alone would be valuable.  High level dude that GC would be crazy not to hire.  Greenup tends to hire people that are safe and local from what I have seen.  They need a new coach and a new AD.  Start fresh and get some excitement back to the program.  We will see.  I just hope the hiring committee doesn’t screw it up like that have in the recent past.
#11
The young coach listed would be a great hire, but would he bring stability to the program? My thoughts would be he would be looking to move to greener pastures ASAP.
#12
Greenup Co has been bad since R. Ward days.

I’m hearing that Greenup continues to be afraid of success.  They turned Jordan Brangers away.  The Superintendent stalled long enough on the hiring process and didn’t hire the best applicant that Greenup has had in decades. Until they stand up to this person and stop allowing her to micromanage everything, GC will continue to spiral downward. If she had a kid in the team it would be a different story.  Disgusting
#14
Greenup could do a lot better than Brangers. Will they? That’s a different story but they could do better.

Steve let it go. I know you live there but you moved your kid out. I would not even consider JB as a coach. Maybe a great skills guy, trainer, but that doesn’t make you a good coach. A lot more goes into coaching. Plus he comes with his own set of issues I hear!

Word coming out of GC is they offered BC coach the job! Would be a great hire for GC. It has not been confirmed but I did hear it was offered to him. Heard it today!

Greenup announced Nathan Sutton as new coach.

Great choice for longevity of the program. Class act guy, and the region referee scene just took a huge hit losing probably their top guy.

You literally are special needs. I said it was offered to BC coach and it was. Word is he turned the job down after a day or two GC gave him. Sutton was asked to coach due to lack of quality candidates. That why he even says when it was talked about him coaching. He didn’t even apply. You truly are a few cards short of playing with a full deck! Being an Ashland homer I’m sure your just used to stealing from other peoples decks! HAHA

How is regional titles looking for you?  Running out of time. If you go to GRC that’s not a given.  If you go to Martin it’s not a given. If you stay at the COUNTY it’s a very slim chance maybe 10%.

I’m surprised Sutton would want to give up reffing but he was a good hire for Greenup.  The kids will play for him.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

He was the intern coach on year and I believe they made the regional tourney that season.    Great hire for greenup, kids will love him and will be a great role model for students who play there.

I’d imagine they will get a favorable whistle with all the 16th region refs trying to show him how good of a ref they are. Good thinking on Greenups part.

What if the officials didn't like him, this could also work against him?
