Corbin 7 Whitley County 2 (13th Region Championship)

Back-to-back 13th region titles for the Hounds(19-17). Elam led the game off with a big fly and that set the tone. Hounds will next face defending state champ, PRP(26-6) in the opening round of the state tourney on June 6. Corbin lost in the state title game in 1994 to PRP.

That's a potent offense and they have a great shot at beating PRP.

Elam is an absolute stud! Congrats to him and the Corbin redhounds, can’t stand Whitley. Their coach very overrated.

Kid Elam is gonna be a fine ballplayer for U of L . Probably would make them a pretty good QB, too, if they were interested. Smile

Louisville QB from last season may start for the Saints in his rookie season. So no. Also a long list of great QBs at Louisville, including L Jackson, T Bridgewater, Michael Bush and many more. But I'm going to really enjoy following his baseball career there. I can picture him playing in MLB one day in the not too distant future.

how is the coach overrated? Won a state title… with below average HS talent. Not one of those players played on a College team the following year.

He's definitely not overrated. It's amazing what he has been able to do at Whitley.

He's definitely not overrated. It's amazing what he has been able to do at Whitley.

I agree. I don't know the man but winning a state title at Whitley automatically exepts him from being called overrated. He's done a fine job. Losing the region to Corbin the last two seasons, however, is a bit of a blight on his resume. Still, high marks overall, though.
