The Reagan and Obama Debate
#1
I thought this was a interesting video, watch it and fire away!

Just one point: ask a pharmacist how efficient private insurance and Big Pharma are. Ask him or her how deeply they care about the health of "the American people." Machiavelli said use fear and appearances of righteousness to be an effective leader. Both sides in this debate succeed.

This video is not worth much IMO. You can piece together anything to make a point. But just to address a few problems I see with philosophy and government and the points made in the video:

(1) I think the Republican versus Democrat concept is outdated. Neither party's platforms work. It will take more than a Republican or Democratic position to solve the problems facing this country. Over the past, both parties have had their opportunities and both have failed miserably.

(2) Everyone in this country needs healthcare, but I am not in favor of socialized medicine, at least to the point of dictating all aspects of medical care to all parties involved. I think that there needs to be some sort of effort made to solve the health care problems facing this country, but it isn't as simple as it may seem.

(3) We are in a very serious situation right now, both economic and otherwise, and Obama just happens to be the guy at the helm. I certainly hope that he can solve all of the problems because I'm not so sure how much longer we can keep getting it wrong and keep this country afloat. You might say we have been going down the lazy river for quiet sometime, but the waterfall is fast approaching.

(4) As to the mention of constitutional rights, well the courts of this nation have been slowly and steadily stripping away the constitutional rights of the people for many years. Eventually everyone will wake up and realize that there isn't much left.

I don't really care what party a person claims to belong to, because neither party is going to solve all of our problems alone. But everyone better hope that Obama gets most of it right during his term or terms or there may not be much to work with regardless of who might replace him in the future.

Good luck!!!

Who said anything about political parties? The video is clearly titled Reagan Obama debate. And we need a lot more of what Reagan stood for in this country.

I have only voted in two presidential elections...Reagan and Obama and I voted for both. I feel I have made the right choice on each. I remember when Reagan was elected, all the same rhetoric went around about him just like it is about Obama. I just hope and PRAY that our nation can be turned around fast. Like EKYSPORT said...the water fall is getting closer.

I went and figured that you are the one who is preaching to leave the parties out the discussion, yet you are the only one who mentioned political parties in this thread. Not practicing what you preach.

Not so fast there Jetpilot!! I do think that the politicians should be more concerned with their actual jobs rather than their political party agendas. But unfortunately the Republican and Democrat split is always there. As for this particular thread, why wasn't it Clinton versus Obama debate? Because it is Republican and Democrat. Politics are pathetic.
