wheres PCC and Letcher at in 5A

Which one of the teams in 5A should Letcher or Perry be in front of?
To be honest I don't think Perry/Letcher could beat one of those 5A teams. They play in much more talented district in a tougher part of the state.
09-30-2009, 08:21 PM
Then why was Perry Central in the top ten last week. It seems that no matter who Letcher Central beats they are not going to move up. They have as good a chance of beating any of the last four teams in the top ten in 5A as Pineville does against most teams in Class A. It is ironic that LCC plays in one of the weakest districts in 5A but it is the toughest from top to bottom in the mountains. Breathitt and Prestonsburg's district is a joke.

Breathitt does play in a weak district. Prestonsburg's district is weak as well, but with Shelby Valley playing as well as they are, I wouldn't exactly call Class AA District 7 a "joke".

Perry Central was put in the top 10 solely because of the of the beatdown they put on Breathitt County, but now that win doesn't look so great.
Don't get me wrong because I'm not trying to diss either Perry or Letcher, because both are top 15 teams without a doubt. If they win and someone in the bottom half of the top 10 loses then either could make their way in. That's how rankings work.
I agree that Breathitt & Prestonsburg's districts are weak, but there's nothing either team can do about that. Both Breathitt & P-burg filled out their non-district schedules with some pretty good teams though.

They are playing "well" for a Shelby Valley team but defeating Knott Central, Tug Valley, Bath County, and Pike Central doesn't mean you are a good team. If they were playing "well" they would have played Lawrence closer then they did.

I posted on here a couple of weeks ago that SV should be a top 10 team in 2A, then they lost to Lawrence.
Lawrence is a top 5 team in 4A IMO and they were tied with Valley 7-7 with 10 seconds to go at the half, they then scored on tipped hail mary pass. The score with 10:00 to go in the 4th was 14 -27, when Lawrence scored. This game was not a blow out at all, the score may look like it, but Lawrence onside kicked the ball three times in the second half, recovering 2 of them.
The next week, Valley plays Bath Co the same Bath co team that beat them the year before and that has won 25+ games in the last three years, but are way down this season. The score of this game was 48-0 midway through the second.
-----------------------
Im from louisville Ky, and Carroll county ( no disrespect is a joke) THey have played 4 of the worst teams in all of football (Gallitan County, WV, Ludlow, Bracken , KCD are all very poor 1A schools.
Their toughest opponet is Walton Varona(who is 1-4) and a second year program. They are not even beating these young programs very bad, The games look like dog fightes.
IF SV played their schedule they Would have scored 300 points and had 5 shutouts.
SV plays Leslie this week, theyre going to win by 40+, IMO Leslie would be in shootout with Carroll County.
No disrespect to this pool, but a pretty record means nothing, I know Valley hasnt played the best one in the world, but Pike Central is a solid team that will win some solid games this season.
-Carroll county also is not going to loose a game this season untill Desales, which they will lose by 60, but they dont play more than one good team all season.

Carroll County has defeated teams they should have handingly and so has Shelby Valley. But Shelby Valley also lost a game they where expected to lose. Point is, both are doing as expected. The poll will become more accurate as the season goes along.

I do agree 100%, I just find it hard to believe that anyone belives the Carroll would beat SV.
Being from Louisville, I also find it hard to believe that CAL would beat SV. But I will argue for 10th, before i do 9th

Also the Louisville CJ Likenhouse ratings, has Carroll Co 27h of 33 teams in 2A, one spot ahead of Knott Central, who SV beat 45-0
I seriouslly dont mean to be rude, just like talking football. Sorry if Ive came across wrong

Hey I can agree with this. It is quite a challenge doing these rankings, but I enjoy defending my vote and the other staff members votes. We all cannot see each team as we may like to, but we can go by SOS, W/L's and points given up/points scored.

I voted Carroll County 8th. Call me crazy, call me whatever. They may not have played top quality opponents, but I'm basing that ranking on the way their taking care of business. As far as talent goes, they probably aren't in the top 15 in 2A. You may not like the way of ranking I choose to do, but that's my case for Carroll County. I used the same method for my voting of Breathitt County and Louisville Central in 3A. Central has far too much talent to not be in the top 5 even though their record is 1-5, so I voted them at the 4 spot. Thing is, they have far more talent than anyone in 3A, but I don't base my ranking on that. On the other hand, Breathitt is a little different. They have more talent than the way they are playing. The Bobcats are losing to teams they were predicted to beat and are getting blown out in some of them. That being said, I didn't include them in my top 10. I say Breathitt is overrated, but that is a completely different discussion for a different thread.
Back to Carroll County though. Other than DeSales, Carroll County also plays Louisville Christian Academy, which is a solid 2A team. Those two games should show us how good Carroll really is.

No disrespect, but looking at the two teams and the schedules they have played so far, neither team should be in the top 10.

considering we have been out 3 of our top players since the season started we are doing alright.

Injuries definitely play a factor. UC had a great run last year, hopefully they can get some people healthy and make some noise in the playoffs.

Blackcat Alum. I want to apologize for questioning you on the ratings as LCC does not deserve to be in the top ten.
