What I would give to hear one more "Kiss it good-bye," "bloop and a blast," "we gotta bug on the rug," or "he lit up the lights on Boardway."

"Oh the Bucs are goin' all the way, all the way, all the way
The Bucs are goin' all the way, all the way this year!!!!"

Im honored..Yeah we're probably gonna have another losing season, but Ill always cling to hope..those vids were great, although Ive searched far and wide to find some Andy Van Slyke videos as he was my alltime favorite Bucco..wow..Bob Prince..hey man I started a facebook group "Join if you think Bob Walk deserves to be in the Hall of Fame" lol..but although we have our five championships, we have a plethora of heartbreaks as well. Dave Gusti giving up a game tying 2 run HR to Johnny Bench. Then Bob Moose's wild pitch allowed a rookie by the name of George Foster to score the winning run. That was in the 9th inning alone ('72 NLCS game 5). John Smileys first inning breakdown against Atlanta in game 7 of the 91 NLCS, and then the mother lode, the game 7, 9th inning choke against Atlanta. Then the 17 (going on 18) year curse. A curse in which a Pirate team hasnt been more than 7 games over .500 at any point in over 17 years. The major league baseball farm team, so they call us. I like this group on the diamond, although the pitching is among the worst Ive ever seen..I sure do miss the good ol days, lol..I started loving the Pirates at the end of Pops Stargell's career. I was young, probably 5 or 6, around the same time I started loving the Steelers. But I remember Bill Madlock "The Mad Dog", Johnny Ray, watching the candy man, John Candeleria before he was a Yankee, Tony Pena, Dave Parker, Omar Moreno, Jason Thompson. I remember thinking, as a 7 year old, "what the heck are they doing?" after they traded Vance Law and Ernie Camacho for Russ Baumgartner and Butch Edge lol..yeah we lost out on that deal..then the later part of the 80s, when Leyland took over in '86 and brought hope back, and we ended up putting a good team together with Bonds, Van Slyke, Bonilla, Jose Lind, Jeff King, Spanky LaValliere, and a heck of a pitching staff (Drabek, Smiley, Denny Neagle, Tim Wakefield, etc)..Oh man, Ill stop now, Ill talk Pirate baseball all night, lol..

TideHoss, I was born one month after Maz hit is walk-off home run to beat the Yankees in the 60 Series. My granddad took me to Three Rivers to see the Pirates play the Braves in 71 and my dad took me later that summer to see the Pirates play the Giants. I got to see Hank Aaron and Willie Mays that summer. I jumped for joy when the Pirates beat the O's in the 71 Series. I was a freshman in college when Willie hit his 6th inning home run to knock out the O's after being down 3-1 in the 79 Series. I shutter that it has been 31 years since that last title. I still remember that 71 lineup. Bobby Robertson at 1st, Dave Cash at 2nd, Gene Alley at short, Richie Hebner at 3rd, Clemente in right, Oliver in center and Stargell in left. Behind the plate was Manny Sangy , Steve Blass the RHP with Gusti coming in to relieve. The heartbreak of 92 was just slightly higher than the heartbreak of 72. I still remember the shock I felt when I heard that Clemente was killed in the plane crash. Ironicly, it only took a couple of years to recover from that blow. The Buccos have yet to recover from Sid Bream rounding third and scoring. Oh well, as Cub fans like to say, "there's always next year."

Okay, think I dont celebrate a relatively obscure team in the history of baseball? LOL..the 1988 Pittsburgh Pirates. 85-75. Second place (15 games behind the Mets)..
Spanky LaValliere at Catcher, Sid Bream at 1st, Chico Lind and Rafael Belliard at 2B and SS, and Bobby Bo at 3rd. Bonds, my hero Andy Van Slyke and RJ Reynolds at left, center and right..Dougie Drabek was the ace, the Whirlybird Bob Walk, John Smiley, Mike Dunne and I believe it was Brian Fisher or Jeff Robinson maybe rounding out the rotation?? Im really not sure there..but Jim Gott was the closer..Van Slykes best all around year. Hit .290 with 25 homers and 100 rbi's and 30 stolen bases, and won a GG..anyways, that began a solid era, the last "era" of good Pirates baseball..I remember we went 80-82 in '87, had a losing record in '89, but won three straight pennants from 90-92..
