DRY RIDGE, Ky.-A KHSAA sanctioned football game at Grant County High School against Bourbon County came to a grinding halt Friday night.

Bourbon County's Jarrod Hilander dipped his head while tackling Grant County's Justin Loomis. Both boys dipped their heads before Loomis helmet collided with the right and backside of Hilander's.

Dry Ridge Fire Department EMT's called for air care to transport the junior defensive back to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Hilander was able to move his extremities. According to Bourbon Co. coaches and parents, the decision to fly was "just to be safe."

Officials cleared fans from the stands along with players, band, and cheerleaders from the field for safety reasons, because the helicopter could blow debris upon landing.

This incident happened in the wake of the House of Representatives passing bill 1347 this week to help prevent concussions in student athletes.
