KY High School players taken in the 2011 MLB Draft

There may not be many, but I feel like they deserve the recognition. The draft will conclude today with rounds 31-50. I believe and there have been 3 high school seniors taken thus far from the Bluegrass.

Mark Biggs- Warren East High School--RHP (8th Round TOR)

Matt Spalding- St. Xavier--RHP (29th Round BOS)

Jonathon Youngblood- Lafayette High School--CF (30th Round ATL)

Also, former Lexington Catholic star LHP Nick Maronde (University of Florida) was taken in the 3rd round by the LA Angels.

I take it Mark Biggs will start for Warren East when they play us Monday right?

I would imagine that he'd get the start. I don't know anything about their program though. Biggs is 6'3 and 205 lbs. Pretty good sized lad sounds like, and according to the Perfect Game Showcase website his fastball runs up to 92 mph. Sounds like an ideal power pitcher if I've ever heard of one.

That might depend upon whatever they feel the quality of their #2 pitcher might be.

From what I understand Spalding might have gone a little higher, but there is some concern among a lot of clubs over his asking price. I read somewhere that the Red Sox called him in the 5th round and asked if he would consider taking less money.
