Hate to say it but Belfry. Our freshman & jv have absolutely stunk up the field this year. IMO, just not your typical P'burg freshman & jv squads. Hopefully things will change as the season goes on but they just dont seem to have any heart.
JV games so far this season
Pike Central lost 12-8
Powell Co lost 33-0
Breathitt Co lost 40-12
Belfry lost 20-0
We did beat Morgan Co., dont remember the score but was at the game & Morgan for much of the game actually looked like the better team.

P'burg is what the schedule says, but not sure.

P-burg lost to Belfry 20-12. I've watched three games this year and this is what I think. The O-line from guard to guard is terrible. The tackles look pretty decent. The ends block well but i can't guess as to how they catch because passes rarely get to them. 32 and 10 run hard and block well. 22 goes east-west and blocks no one. 45 stops running when he is ready to get hit. On defense the down linemen look pretty good, the ends get out of position and give up a lot of sweeps. the right and left linebackers let the runner come to them instead of attacking. The corners and saftey are more agressive on the run than the outside linebackers. Safteys and corners look fair on pass, good on run. It's hard to judge their pass coverage because teams run well on them so there is no reason to pass. All that being said, this is the first time I can remember in years that P-burg has enough freshmen to have a team. This team looks better when it is a freshman game than a JV game, and yes it appears there is a lack of heart with half of them

Belfry 22 P'burg 12 was the final. ^ Agree with most everything you said hawg laid. 22 also stops running when the contact is coming. With the size of the O & D lines they should be unstopable, but they play with no heart & passion.

22 score both touchdowns for P-burg. The first one he was untouched the second a Belfy player got an arm on him. I'm not downing the kid, he looks like a good athlete. He just needs to work on some fundementals. He needs to drop his hips get his shoulder forward, and then run through tacklers, instead of slowing. He's got the size and decent speed so he could be a punishing runner. On his blocking he flys past tacklers. He needs to break down and get his hands out and his hips under him.
As for JV, I found out this weekend that there is only 1 JR. and 3 Sophs on the team so it pretty much is a freshman team every time they take the field. That explains the pounding they take when they play other JV teams.

Agreed. Yeah i hadnt even taken into consideration that the JV is 90% freshman.
To the other poster the comments being made are to help the kid no offense intended at all to them. I am a huge Blackcat fan & support all the players, but will also tell them when i see something there doing wrong.
Good luck against Lawrence Co. tonight boys.
