IMO, it goes:
1. Prestonsburg
2. Belfry
3. Pikeville
4. Johnson Central
5. Paintsville
6. Magoffin County
7. Lawrence County
8. Pike Central
9. East Ridge
10. Allen Central
11. Sheldon Clark
12. Betsy Layne
13. Shelby Valley
14. Phelps
15. South Floyd
Gaps represent a decent amount of separation in my thought process.
Still could see any of the top 4 + the second representative from the 57th winning the region.

Region is pretty wide open, wouldn't you say PT. Just depends on who comes to play that day come Tourny time.

âRelax, all right? Donât try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, theyâre fascist. Throw some ground balls â itâs more democratic.â

There is not a team you can flat out say will put up 5, or will hold an opponent to 3. No great staffs. During the Regional tournament when you have to throw upwards of 5 arms most likely, it can get very interesting. When you get past most teams' #2, it will be a roller coaster.
All that being said, When 5 teams out of 8 could realistically win the tournament, yeah.... It is pretty open. And when you play on the turf, everything is even more leveled off.
Just a note for PHS, Chris Lawson is a HUGE boost to Pikeville. Now you may say why? Give him his #1 for the first round of the Regional Tournament and he can pull the upset. East Ridge is capable, as they have shown (Beat JC, Lost 1-0 to Pikeville), of beating the top teams in this region. It is at least fathomable that Lawson could pull off one upset, and depending on who it is against, it could greatly help Pikeville on the opposite side of the bracket.

I agree the turf does level things out quite a bit.

Wow, gotta be impressed with the 57th district in most sports this year. 57th represented the Region in both boys' and girls' basketball, has the potential for either team to win baseball regional tournament, and JCHS was also strong in football. Win the 57th District in anything, have a really serious shot to represent the 15th Region at State - or go deep in the football playoffs.

Said it before the season started and I think it still holds true. It ALL depends on the matchups on the mound. A perfect example is JC beating PBurg about 10 days ago and then the very next night getting beat by East Ridge and then coming back a week later and beating a state ranked Bryan Station team. There are no offensive powerhouses in the region, and I still say it will all depend on which team has done the best job of developing their young pitchers when it comes tournament time and who is the best at playing small ball. There's a bunch of yearlings this year all acrosss the region. Everybody seems to have a bunch of them. Belfry is probably the most veteren in that respect though. They are fairly solid throughout the lineup offensively IMO too. That's just my opinion though. Personally, I think it's too close to call to rank anybody.

I just think Pburg has done enough to earn the #1 spot if you had to rank them and then PHS, JCHS, and BHS are toss ups. Pikeville is probably the weakest offensively out of the four right now and none of the 4 are particularly great defensively.
