After the beating Whitley took, i would have been fine with a removal from the top 10...

I can agree with that but who would you put in their place?

Im not sure.
For the most part the mountians are just downright bad this year.
Other than Knox and Breathitt, I dont think any of the teams are living up to there expectations.
Theres really no other team you could put over Whitley. Everybody is just that bad this year IMO...
Considering the #1 team only beat Whitley by 7 at home and the number 8 team lost to Whitley at home, and Whitley beat Pulaski to death in a scrimmage so that pretty much solidifies there spot.

I don't think the Mountains are horrible this year. It isn't the best of years, but there could still be four teams in the state championship games with Hazard/Williamsburg in 1A, Somerset in 2A, Breathitt/Belfry in 3A and Harlan County in 5A. If Whitley could get by Harlan I think they would have a shot at going to the title game.

In 1A, the winner of the Hazard/Wburg game will go to the state championship, IMO.
In 2A, Somerset is the favorite, but its going to be hard to beat Danville, and or LCA twice come playoff time.
In 3A, Ive got to go with Breathitt. Belfry is not looking to good at the current moment, and i think its Breathitts year.
In 4A, no chance IMO.
In 5A, Whitley could get a rematch against Harlan County, and after seeing last week, Harlan County should be the clear favorite, but im not sure Harlan Countys style would do well against a Conner, Cooper, Frankin County, Anderson County, etc in the semis.

Any Style of play would do good Vs. Franklin's defense..you'd just have to hope to stop the offense

I think Harlan County and possibly Whitley would match up really well with Franklin County or Anderson County. I don't think either of those teams even field a defense. I think it will be Conner that is in the state semis, and they are far from unbeatable.

I definitely agree with that.
Only problem is both Harlan County and Whitley havent really faced that type of offense.
Harlan County did play an average Tates Creek team, but gave up over 50 points to them in a shootout.
There is not doubt in my mind that Harlan County ould beat any of those four, but when youv'e had a defense thats had to stop the run all year, you have to believe that a passing team or even a balanced team can get chunks of yardage in those games.
I for one would LOVE to see somebody from this region, more specifically district make it to Bowling Green. Makes the whole region look better. You can bet if Harlan County makes it to Bowling Green, ill be rooting for the Bears.
