The proof that the AP simply looks at records is evident in 2A:
#4 Glasgow 6-1
#9 Somerset 3-3

Sept. 20th
Somerset 35
Glasgow 13

That is exactly why you have to pay more attention to the power ratings. Look at McCracken. They also will destroy Henderson Co in a little bit and they are still on the outside looking in on this polls.

They are not. They are #5 and as I mentioned they are red hot. I am fully aware of McCracken but as of now their body of work does not merit a better ranking thanks to a pair of early season losses. As their resume improves they will get the respect accordingly..that's why they have moved into the Top 5 already.

Where do you see #5? They are listed at #11.

I know paintsville has vastly improved but to have them ranked above Raceland, Williamsburg, and even Frankfort, imho, is nuts. They may change my mind friday but as it stands rt now, idk how one could have them that high.
#7
Makes you wonder sometimes if they research anything or just go to khsaa website to see what records are and then post.

Sorry...

McCracken lost to Tilghman, henderson beat them by 2 touchdowns, I think that until the two meet up henderson should be rated ahead of them. You are trying to predict the future and use it for a current Poll ... Just saying

I understand what you are saying, but that is one of those games they warn you about that you can't compare scores. McCracken will destroy Henderson.

I agree that McCracken will most likely beat Henderson assuming they continue to improve at this rate, but as for today's rankings you can't rank a 2 loss McCracken ahead of a 1 loss Henderson when Henderson beat and McCracken lost to their only common opponent.

The best example I see is that Central is 5th in 3a, now that my friend is beyond crazy.

rankings don't mean anything, just bragging rights

Just as a side note, Paris in 1a is a team that everyone of the top 10 teams in 1a could/would beat, but I guarantee none want to play. They are a team of Freshman and Sophomores that are only going to get better each time they step on the field.
#14
We play everybody and want to play anybody who will play us. Glad Paris is young maybe we will see them emerge next year but speaking for Mayfield I guarantee u we would want to play them this year. If they got there

The issue with Paris is their loss to 2A Shelby Valley. SV is traditionally a very weak team and SV even lost to traditionally very weak East Ridge who pulled out of District Competition to try and be competitive.

The thing with 1A is there is a clear hierarchy with teams 1-3.. then 4-9.. then there are about 5 or 6 teams who are about equal for that 10 spot.

In Paris' defense...and to the detriment of these rankings..the #6 team Paintsville played Shelby Valley and had to beat them in OT..so one can infer Paintsville and Paris are pretty much on similar footing.
#16
^^^^agreed. That is another reason i feel they are ranked far to high. I expect them to keep it close until the 2nd quarter against Fairview and Raceland. But both Raceland and Fairview should still beat them by 2 or 3 scores. The one thing though that they have that Fairview doesnt is the ability to throw the ball some consistently.

I like to meet the voter who gave Franklin Co. a first place vote instead of Bowling Green!

More surprising is that Somerset was unranked last week but somehow the strong bye week vaulted them into the top 10. The AP poll is biased. If you have a paper in your area that is voting, you will typically do better in the polls. Hence the Franklin County 1st place vote.

They know how tough idle could be.

Not to mention the first place vote for Boyle in 4A. I'm black and gold through and through but come on. As far as i'm concerned Highlands gets every first place vote till somebody beats them.

Glad to see Lawrence County at #8. Just about right.
