Garrard County head coach Mark Scenters is the new head football coach at Madison Central. Scenters replaces Chuck Smith who left to go to Boyle County just about a month after accepting the Madison Central job.

If I was Mark Scenters and I had applied to Madison Central with Smith....not been accepted at first and then offered the job as the calf on the back titty behind Smith....I'd find it hard to take that job. I know Mark and he is one heck of a guy and has turned into an outstanding young coach. God bless him for swallowing a little pride if things played out like I said before in this post because this isn't the first time he has applied for the Central job as I understand it. I hope he has more luck with Central and the administration that Browne did because Mark IS such a great guy.
GOOD LUCK to Mark and best wishes on his success!

I don't think I would be too offended. There are a few coaches in the state that have had the success too beat most very qualified applicants out. We just saw it with Chuck Smith and Larry French at SW.
In all reality if I were Coach Scenters I would feel confident in my interview and the confidence that MC had in me since they hired me so fast.
Good luck to all involved.

I agree Mark is a good coach. His priority better be keep the kids from Madison Middle because of the open enrollment and being in 5A thise kids having been going to Southern and not Central.

Interested to see what Scenters does with the natural talent and athletes walking the halls of MC.
He is a fantastic coach and teaches the fundamentals very well and gets the most out of his talent. The one year at Garrard he actually had some athletic ability and speed at his disposal he led to Golden Lions to the Semi's and darn near reached the Finals.
Even if he is a consolation prize to MC he is still a heck of a get.

That was his best team... Not so sure I would go so far as to say it was his only team with "some athletic ability." Still, he inherited an absolute mess, stabilized the program, and did some nice things.
It will be interesting to see how the looming realignment will affect their attempts to get a new coach.

Ryan Jones will stay as is offensive coordinator, Velmar Miller will be calling the defense and from what he told me Tim Kirk is going with Mark. Good luck Indians!!!
