Yesterday and this morning, I have deleted more posts and suspended more posters than any other 24 hour period since I have been moderator.
Comments and postings have gotten out of hand. Part of this is my fault and I'm going to try and remedy that.
You see, I ADMIRE the passion and loyalty of fan bases to their teams. We SHOULD be supportive of our kids!! When my kids and grandchildren played the game I was awful!! I coached basketball for many years, and knew most of the officials personally. I used to call them out by name, loudly, for making certain calls. Ten to twenty years ago, you wouldn't recognize me when I was at a ballgame.
I explain this so that I can tell you that I get it!! I get the passion, the tempers, the comments etc. I understand them. BUT My rights stop when your rights begin. Conversely your rights stop when my rights begin.
You simply cannot be verbally abusive to other posters and you can't hijack a thread because you are pissed off or you want to stir the pot.
BGR has rules that are posted here and easy to find. They are minimal and give a whole lot of room to express opinions and feelings. But from this day forward, I am going to be a little less liberal when it comes to moderating posts. I'm afraid that I have contributed to the chaos by being too lenient.
I always try to be fair and I still will do that. But you guys have to do your part too.
I love BGR and the family of posters who use it. And I intend to support that by applying the rules evenly and fairly.
If you think that I haven't been fair or have any questions about anything done on the boards, I welcome a PM. I've answered a few in the past 24 hours and I'm happy to do so.

Donât worry. We will never go to that extent. Iâve never personally been on the site but weâve heard stories and we want to give people a place to talk freely without handcuffs on but we will do our due diligence to get rid of the stuff that doesnât belong on here. We are trying to grow BGR to the level of everyone on every fan base has a place to come and debate and have fun banter with one another and we need the posters to help us with this. If you all see something you think we need to get rid of. Let us know and we will look at it. Itâs hard to see everything for us.

Hopefully this will get people talking more about football again instead of always trying to argue or just coming here to troll. You just saved a few really good posters from leaving BGR, including myself. Thanks.
