Don't look now but the Pike Central Hawks are 5-1! Impressive scoring no matter who the opponent was. Could this be the year they finally take down the Pirates? Either way, their starting to get some well deserved attention and are making some noise in District 8.
With games against Lawrence County at home and Magoffin County on the road, the Hawks could very well be sitting at 7-1 (3-0 in the district) if they win those games when the Pirates come calling. And if Belfry beats Lawrence County the week before the showdown with Pike Central, they'll be sitting at 5-2 (3-0 in the district) heading into the game with the district championship on the line. This is starting to shape up into a very interesting game. Pirate fans should remember the last time we traveled to Pike Central. Even though we pulled away in the second half, the Hawks jumped all over us early and had Belfry fans awful nervous for awhile. I hope it plays out this way. Man, what an atmosphere that will be!

And if I'm not mistaken, Pike Central has never beat Belfry. I think we're 26-0 against the Hawks or something like that. I may be dead wrong but I was told that. Could an upset be brewing on the horizon? Is it time for someone else to take over District 8? The Pirates have already shown their not invincible.

Impressive to score 80 points no matter who youâre playing, but I donât think they can beat belfry. Tug valley only has like 19 players on their team this year and just wasnât nearly physical enough for pike central. Offensively we scored well the whole night, they do not cover the pass good. But we just could not stop 32, that kid is a beast

25-0 to be exact, Pike Central opened in 93. Fun fact, 99.9% sure this is accurate, Johns Creek nor Mullins (two feeder) programs also never beat Belfry when they were high schools.

Of note, Pike County Central set a school record for points scored in a game.
The previous record was 76 against Betsy Layne in 2003.

Ethan Varney from Tug Valley was a very impressive athlete. He shredded us in the passing game much like he's done other foes this season.
Meet some really nice folks over there in Naugatuck.
I hope they get some better numbers coming out in the future, I believe they only had around 19/20 suited up in this one.

There's some really good folks over that way. Their head coach, Coach Hady Ford, and I went to school and graduated together at Matewan back in '94. He is one of the finest, most humble human beings you'll ever meet. Not only that, Hady was one of the best football players that ever come through Matewan. He was part of those old Tiger teams that won the schools first, and only, State Championship back in '94. He led the Tigers to 3 straight championship games, finally winning it our senior year. If they give him time, Coach Ford will get the numbers up and turn the Panther program around.

That's awesome. I really hope they keep it up. That program and those kids deserve it.
Not only that, our district has been down for awhile now other than Belfry, and Lawrence County here and there. I'd like to see District 8 get tougher and be more competitive. Not only would it be great for Eastern Kentucky, better competition would also help teams better prepare for the playoffs.
I really am happy to see what's going on at Pike Central right now. I'd love to see Lawrence County make a comeback to what they were a few years ago, would like to see Coach Hager get Floyd Central going. And I don't know much about Magoffin County or their history but would also like to see them do good. Good luck to all you guys. Hope you win them all the rest of the season, except for that one game of course! Y'all keep it up, folks are starting to take notice.

They may not beat Belfry, that's yet to be seen. But I can guarantee you one thing, they'll not have to worry about the Pirate passing game! 😂
Like I said in the above post tvhs-25, you guys have faith in Coach Ford. If you do, he'll get the Panthers going in the right direction. Good luck!

Tomcat Pride Wrote:Not it wonât. Belfry will win by 40 plus. Heâs just hyping this game because Belfry doesnât have a relevant game until they host Johnson Central during the last week of the regular season. Letâs get real here Hawk. Your team just gave up 48 points to a West Virginia team that dresses 19 players.
Nobody is hyping anything. Why you gotta come on here and be a prick? Pike Central is playing good. Their 5-1. And all I'm doing is giving them a little credit. Especially those players that get on here and read these comments. Theres always one!

So what is the Pike Central running back's style? He's only a freshman and put up over 300 yards of rushing!! As a freshman it almost makes me think he'd be speed, pure burner, to be able to put up that yardage. If he's a power back, good grief, as a freshman...just how strong will that kid actually end up being? The 80 points jumped out, but that kid being a freshman really jumped out to me.

Your wasting your time respond to him because he is a hit and runner. He goes to a lot of threads and says stuff to try and get something started then isnât smart enough or something to respond anymore or maybe he is only aloud on for so long I donât know. Congratulations on the win though.

Bad game that night against floyd central, everybody had a off day, nothing was going right, I think we have had a good year the boys have had a wonderful year

I have no favor in this game but watch a lot of high school football. If Dixon star rb doesn't get hurt on the 1st series against the Ohio team and plays against Pikeville belfry would be undefeated. Belfry has yet been 100% and they are getting healthy. When they do I pick them to win the 3A state championship. Revisit this when the season is over and see if I know high school football. That's if belfry stays healthy and has that 3 headed rb crew (Dixon, Bentley & Hensley). When HEALTHY they are #1 in state in 3A and would of beat pikeville by 2+ touchdowns

You all are the same people who last year were putting down coach Ratliff from pike central. He is a great man and a good coach. You all wanted him fired

You guys are having a great season. Keep it up. IF Belfry puts a running clock on PCC it's not going to change the fact that the Hawks have already had a successful season. Block out all the hate. BGR is full of posters that never have anything positive to say about anything. There's 3 or 4 posters on this site that troll me and disagree's with about anything I say. No matter what it's about. They dont stop and read what I said and try to understand it. Take my first post in this thread for example. I never said PCC would beat Belfry or even come close. I said its shaping up to possibly be a battle for the district. Like I said before, I think it's great what the Hawks are doing. This district needs more than one team that's competitive.

Actually, it really is 26-0
And Johns Creek did beat Belfry once in 1972, 22-21

Well he** I suck at math.
Did JC lose to Pikeville that year then? I thought they beat Pikeville and then lost to Belfry. A little more than a decade before my time.

Your math is good, they have only played 25 years starting in 1994, but Belfry beat PCC twice in 2013.
