What is your favorite car of ALL time?

ronald_reagan Wrote:I was under the impression that Chevy would be offering the Z28 option up front? Rumor mills continue to point towards it being an SS model with the 7.0 LS7. Do you have any information on the Z-28? I hope if it DOES come out, that it goes back to its roots and is a Trans Am car... maybe a destroked 6.0 LS-2 displacing 5.0 liters instead with a tight suspension and weight reductions measures. I hated how they ruined the Z-28 name after 1971. It was a TRANS AM car, not a SS without badges. lol
No just going on rumors myself. When they first introduced this car as a concept they said it would be come stock with 400 horses. To be honest I hope they bury the z28. I hope they bring back the RS/SS name and put it on their bigger motored cars like they used to with just the RS name on the stock version.

My favorite is definately the 1969 Shelby GT-500.

After that, I have a huge crush on the 1964 Ford Galaxie. It was huge, but powerful... and was my first car.

64 Galaxie
390 z-code
427 medium riser heads
750 holley DP (built/tricked by yours truly)
2 inch phenolic spacer
comp cam, 292 duration, .512 lift
427 cast iron headers
flowmasters
4 speed toploader
3.70 9" rear
accel superstock coil
accel distributor
k&n filter
flex fan
electric water pump
replaced the generator with a low drag alternator
160 degree thermostat

It was sweet. Still wasn't the fastest car on the block though. lol

I've always heard stories about how guys would rent the 350H, and then take it home, swap out the 306hp 289 k-code, with a 289 A-code 225hp. Swap out the valve covers, and breather.. and Hertz never knew it was even done.

I am pretty sure the new Hertz cars had an engine teather device to stop such debauchery.

Well anyone would be a fool to try it on a new Hertz Shelby.... Its the same engine as the regular GT, with just a few bolt ons. (CAI, cat back, and an x-pipe). So nothing is dfferent about the engine itself. It gets most of its 30 extra hp from the exhaust system....

The old shelby was an entirely different engine. High compression, solid lifters, the better heads, cast iron headers, high rise aluminum intake with 715 holley. It was well worth the swap at the time.

I always loved the 60's models of the Ford Mustang. So I went out and got me an 06 Ford Mustang. Not as good, but it works.

If I had the money, I would buy a new Shelby GT, and a 69 Shelby GT-500.

Blech. I certainly hope yours is better than mine. Mine is beautiful but a piece of junk.
