Hey Devil. I’m not being a smart ass at all. This is a serious question. Do you think Russell will ever get back on top playing this kind of schedule? It’s not a challenging schedule to say the least. I was just wondering how you felt about it?

I wasn't for dropping Raceland. I think they should have kept it. I think Russell needs to strengthen the schedule.Playing teams like south point and coal grove etc doesn't do Russell any good.

I agree …at some point Russell needs to get back into the game. I think they have a decent team but going and making a schedule just to get wins doesn’t do anything for your kids. When Russell is competitive on the football field the whole area is better for it. Hopefully they get back soon

They have a really good sophomore group to hang their hat on. They should have scheduled up this year with two year schedules (if possible) to get them ready. Coal Grove will be physical and Breathitt will be solid. But I honestly see a couple toss up games. Ashland and Greenup. And then wins across the board. It should be an 8-2 season and atleast a regional playoff appearance.

I don’t see 8-2 . They open up with a tough Bulldog team and they play Ashland and Greenup and play Breathitt at Breathitt. Very possible 6-4 .

Lawrence and Rowan are preseason games.

Oh ok I didn’t look at the dates. I m looking forward to the last regular season game. That will have a great atmosphere at that game.

The flatwoods demons need to start playing the Rams again!

I think it will happen in due time. The soph classes have had some epic battles in the past.

Raceland should always be on the schedule. Point blank period. That’s 100 percent on Russell for that.

Also, I would always keep Ironton on the schedule — that game would be difficult to get a dub 9 out of 10 times but it’s a great gate against a storied program. Those two should always be on the schedule.

I’m might be wrong but outside looking in and Talking with a few Russell fans . Their not playing Raceland because they recruit their players. I see both sides and it would hurt Russell on RPI to play 2 classes down.

Why would Raceland “recruit” players that can’t win football games? People wanna get on here and take pop shots with dumb comments. It’s like listening to a libtard trying to make a political point….makes no sense!

I’m only stated what was told to me. That why I said it could be wrong information.

That is false. This recruiting thing really makes me giggle. If and when we start recruiting kids they won’t be from around here. This is about as funny as the Lewis county people going nuts about recruiting because three of their football players transferred to Raceland deciding to drive an hour to school everyday. Because we are recruiting from the football hotbed that is Lewis county.

If Raceland was good at recruiting they would have a championship already

Hehe

RAD and RD50 bring out the best in me lol
#17
How many championships does Russell have and how many does Raceland have? I forget

But you’re not wrong. This statement has been my argument about the “recruiting” for years
#19
Raceland gets more than their share of transfers
#20
We do. But we don’t go out and actively recruit them. What would we offer their parents? Minimum wage jobs at super quick? Now if this was 50 years ago we could have offered them jobs on the railroad. Those jobs are gone now.

yeah like Lundy and Lykins didn’t know how to win football games. Seems to me they won a lot for raceland.
#23
What’s your point? We didn’t go get them. Lykins dad transferred him and as far as Lundy goes……don’t put him 3rd on the QB depth chart and he stays

That’s funny kinda like “this is home”! It sure is when half your starters was from other schools. Raceland has had a ton of transfers and you can trace all the way back to messer. It doesn’t matter to me, more power to ya but don’t get on here and act like it doesn’t happen down there.
#25
Uuuuhhh…….yes transfers happen and we get our fair share but again…..what’s your point. We don’t go out and get them. Hell we’ve had just as many transfer out. Lost a few to Russell last year haven’t heard about how they recruit our players. Messers dad wasn’t going to get to coach so he transferred. We didn’t seek his talents.

And no half out starters are not from other schools. Last year or the year before we had 13 on the all area team 11 of the 13 were Raceland only kids. Your grasping at straws
